The amount of Ultraseal indicated in the tire charts has been calculated to provide proper coverage within specific tire sizes.
It is imperative that the proper amount of Ultraseal be installed for highway use. The Average Highway Use Chart is
considered the minimum amount of Ultraseal. This provides the proper elasticity, reliability and protection for the tires.
Following the instructions supplied with the Manual Pump Kit #3610-46 will allow you to install the proper amount of
Ultraseal into a fully inflated tire without air loss. One full stroke of the pump dispenses four units. The shaft of the pump is
calibrated in one-unit increments so that less than four units may be selected by sliding the unit selector to the desired
amount.

Highway speed vehicles: Always balance tires prior to installing Ultraseal.

Average Highway Use

This application amount is for high-speed vehicles and equipment that is used on the highway. In this application, the proper
amount of Ultraseal has been calculated for high speed, optimum safety and protection for the life of the tire.

Intermediate On/Off-Road Use

This application amount is for equipment that is used on and off highways; any equipment that is in an area of increased
exposure to punctures. The increased amount is additional reserve, which will provide for the repair of many additional
punctures than the average tire is exposed to. Examples: construction vehicles, hunting vehicles, survey crew vehicles, utility
crew vehicles, golf carts, mowers, etc.

Extreme Off-Road Use

This application amount is for equipment that is constantly off road and is required to complete a daily job. Downtime is a
high expense and it is a major catastrophe when a flat tire occurs. A second consideration is the additional life Ultraseal
provides in preserving the casings for additional retreads and the retardation of dry rot. Example: graders, tractors, back
hoes.

Read About Ultraseal and Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS)

Installation Overview

Important: For highway vehicles, always install Ultraseal into tires that
have been previously balanced! Never attempt to re-balance tires
with ANY brand of sealant in them!

Installing Ultraseal is quite easily accomplished using our specially

designed high-pressure pumps, valve core removal tools and
attachments. In the vast majority of cases, Ultraseal is simply pumped
through a tires valve after the installer has removed the valve core.
Removal is quick and easy using our patented valve core remover tools.
An average automobile tire can be treated in less than two minutes, with
typical truck and heavy equipment tires taking three to five minutes.
Times will vary depending on a vehicles wheel configuration and your
familiarity with Ultraseal tools and techniques.

Treating mounted tires that have not yet been

installed on vehicles can cut installation times by as much as half due to

easy access and proximity. This is a common practice in fleet operations.
It is not necessary to immediately install treated tires; Ultraseal will lie
dormant at the bottom of a tire until rotated. If treated tires are to be
stored for an extended period, it is beneficial to spin them on a
balancing machine allowing Ultraseal to evenly coat the interior. This

will reduce porosity and bead leaks, insuring tires retain air pressure

Ultraseal will not cure within an inflated tire regardless of how long it is
stored (within the 5-year shelf life).

Tool Selection

There is a full line of time saving Ultraseal tools and attachments to

choose from, each tailored to a specific task and situation. The correct
combination is determined by considering the following:
1. Installation environment (maintenance facility, service garage,
remote location).
2. Vehicle or equipment type (automobile, medium to large truck, bus,
heavy equipment, etc.).
3. Wheel configuration (single or dual).
4. Size and placement of tire valve (standard or large bore, inward or
outward facing, etc.).
5. Quantity of tires to be treated.
6. Workflow.

Pumps

Ultraseal installation pumps are supplied in two styles: manual and airoperated.

Manual pumps are generally sold for use with 5-gallon pails. This light
and portable combination is well-suited for treating tires wherever
vehicles are in operation, such as job sites or other remote locations. It is

often more convenient and cost effective than moving vehicles and
equipment to facilities for treatment. The combination of a 5-gallon pail
and manual pump is a perfect compliment and fit (size-wise) for tire
service trucks providing emergency service and repairs. This is
invaluable for reducing downtime should a replacement tire not be
readily available.

Our air-operated pump is popular in fleet operations that commonly

install Ultraseal from 55-

gallon drums or 275-gallon totes. This is the obvious choice where an air
source is available and high volumes of tires are to be treated. Featuring
a conveniently located pneumatic start switch at the outboard end of an
extra long hose and settable predetermined counter, this pump increases
productivity and reduces installation time.

Each manual or air-operated pump is calibrated and metered to

consistently deliver the correct amount of Ultraseal into your tires. Both
feature a high-pressure design eliminating the need to reduce tire
pressure for product installation, regardless of the size or weight of the
vehicle. This is a major time saver. Whichever pump best fits your
needs, you can be assured that it has been designed specifically to
provide long-term service and ease of use.

Chucks, Couplers and Valve Core Removal Tools

Our universal chucks, couplers and valve core removal (VCR) tools are
designed for use with either manual or air-operated pumps. These tools
and attachments quickly and securely connect installation equipment to
any standard wheel and

valve configuration. Each VCR tool locks on and firmly holds the
removed core. The Deluxe VCR tool features an airtight design that
enables a core to be removed with little or no air loss.
Ultraseal Tire Charts are divided into three main
sections:

Passenger & Light Truck A specific minimum amount to get the job done, while not adversely affecting lightsuspensions.
Highway Truck & Bus A midrange dosage for highway trucks, includinng a dosage for vehicles that go off-road.
Main Chart Full protection, general purpose dosage range for the majority of vehicles from carts to construction

Using Ultraseal in Vehiles Equiped with TPMS

In 2007 the Federal Government mandated that all new passenger cars sold in the US be
equipped with Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS). Since that time,

there is a minimum likelihood of Ultraseal causing system failures or damaging
wheel sensors. The number of reports of TPMS warning lights being triggered is
surprisingly low (less than 10 during this period). Of those, the majority were
corrected by simply adding air to the tire. There have been no claims that Ultraseal
caused failures resulting in sensor replacements.
If sealant were to partially block the sensor port it could temporarily restrict air passage
causing inaccurate pressure readings, possibly triggering a TPMS warning light.
Ultraseal is water-dispersible and can be easily cleaned from the sensor with a
damp cloth causing no permanent effects.

In an excerpt from a recent Tire Industry trade paper, the head of Sales and Marketing
from one of the largest TPMS sensor manufacturers said that sensors are designed
to be compatible with most of the common chemicals found in a service bay. But
theyre not bulletproof. In the event of a clogged sensor, do not attempt to clean the
sensor port with a sharp object. In a related topic, Tire Review Magazine said that
sensor batteries can last as long as 10 years or as little as 3 to 5 years depending
on their design. There are 200 million sensors on the road today with 35% already
nearing the end of their useful battery life. It is estimated that 9 million sensors will
need replacement within the next 2 years.
The point is there are numerous situations besides the use of tire sealants that can
cause a TPMS warning lamp to be triggered.
Major European auto manufactures are offering sealants as part of their standard OEM
package to offset the recent departure of the spare tire in many of their vehicles.
They fully understand the functional benefit of using a sealant and accept a
minimal risk to the sensor.
