a) Significance of the project in national or local context:
Bangladesh faces a major problem of neonatal and child health problem. Mortality rate of children is reducing a little. But the problem is still a major factor in health sector.
Child care is a special issue taken by Bangladesh Government. Ministry of Health and family welfare and Ministry of Women and Children welfare work hard to make a free future for children.
Child hospital in Dhaka is the only specialized child hospital in Bangladesh. It cannot fulfill the demand. So, this project is essential to fulfilling the country needs. It deals with the current problem and ensures health facilities and a certain future for the children.
b) Reasons for selection of the project as B.Arch. thesis:
The project is much more functional and technical. This project has dealt with contemporary approach with respect of local context. Health facility is a basic need and childrens are more sophisticated. Theres a great scope to work with child psychology and architectural aesthetics also. Demand of specialized hospital increasing day by day and it is essential to build more child hospital in the country. More than a hospital So, there is a scope to design a hospital which fulfilling the country needs and create an architectural significance for the country.
