1. GENERAL

1.1 This standard specifies the quality check rules for highly durable steel wires and wire products, used as reinforcement of
prestressed concrete elements and constructions.
1.2 Wires and wire products are first drawn with plain carbon steel, and then stress-released.
1.3 Types of wires and wire products are as follows:
- steel wire for prestressed concrete, abridged SBP;
- impressed steel wire for prestressed concrete, abridged SBPA;
- wire strands made of 7 steel wires for prestressed concrete, abridged TBP;
- strainers of 2 or 3 steel wires for prestressed concrete, abridged LBT.
1.4 Dimensions, mechanical characteristics, test methods, allotment size, data interpretation, as well as delivering conditions of
wires and wire products, are described in the specific standards STAS 6482/25.

2. QUALITY CHECK RULES AND METHODS
2.1. Quality check is performed by the control units within the producing enterprise, in accordance with the provisions of this
standard; on the beneficiary request, his representative can also attend the quality check. His presence does not exonerate the producing
enterprise of all responsibilities with respect to the quality of delivered wires or wire products.
2.2. Quality check consist of:
- appearance check (the quality of the surface);
- check of the dimensions;
- check of the mechanical characteristics.
2.3. Checking amplitude, test methods, data interpretation, and conditions of allotment acceptance, are established in specific
standards STAS 6482/25 for wires and wire products.
2.4. Producing enterprises keep a record of all quality checks performed over time, which they statistically process, in order to
improve operations and to maintain both homogeneity and constancy of production.
2.4.1. The producing enterprise establish the period of statistical processing in conformity with the technological production
processes (yet, it does not exceed one trimester), so that the, constancy and homogeneity of wire production quality would be ensured.
2.4.2. The statistical processing is performed distinctly on all types of wires and wire products, on dimensional
groups with the same characteristics.

ASRO
Entire or partial multiplication or use of this standard in any kind of publications and by any means (electronically, mechanically,
photocopy, micromedia etc.) is strictly forbidden without a prior written consent of ASRO
2.4.3. Statistical processing, performed in accordance with the example provided in the annex, is used to determine
the following statistical values:
STAS 6482/1-73 2
x survey arithmetic mean
s survey mean square deviation
R
p
value of mechanical characteristics (R and R
0.2
) for a given degree of reliability of 97.7 as stipulated in
STAS 8068-67
R
p
= x 2s

2.4.4. R
p
value, statistically processed within the period of time established according to the subclause 3.4.1
provision, is compared with the corresponding minimum value, prescribed in STAS 6482/25-73; in case R
p
is lower
than the minimum value, the producer immediately takes the necessary measures to improve the homogeneity of
production quality.

2.4.5. Every half year, producers send the values of mechanical characteristics resulted from the control tests they
have performed, as well as their statistical interpretations, to a research institute so that all data would be statistically
processed and interpreted from the perspective of the entire wire production.

ANNEX

EXAMPLE OF DATA STATISTICAL PROCESSING TO DETERMINE THE STATISTICAL OF
PARAMETERS VARIATION OF MECHANICAL CHARACTERISTICS FOR STEEL WIRES

A. Definitions and notations according to STAS 2631-72; STAS 200-67 2
nd
edition 1969, and STAS 8068-67

1. In this example, the variation of the mechanical characteristic resistance to rupture determined by traction
test on the real cross section (R
r
= F
r
/S
0real
) is determined for the SBPI5 mm test sample, produced during a trimester
(STAS 6482/2-73).

2. Survey arithmetic mean ( x )

The ratio between the sum of all x values observed on the selected sample and the number of tests:

In case of observed values arranged in ascending order and grouped in k classes of a equal amplitude, the
arithmetic mean can be determined with an arbitrary value c, close to the mean to which it relates as follows:

where
n total number of observed values
n
i
absolute frequency corresponding to the x
i
value
n
i

percentage relative frequency

x
i
central value of the class
c arbitrary value, close to the real mean. Usually, value with the highest frequency is considered (Survey mode
M
0
)
a class amplitude.

Centered survey moment of r order (
r
)
Numeric value results from the following relation:

4. Survey dispersion (s
2
)
Centered moment of 2
nd
order, determined with the following relation:

Corrected dispersion (used as approximate estimation of the dispersion from the original population) in case of
observed values, arranged in ascending order and grouped in k classes of a equal amplitude, results form the
following relation:

5. Survey mean square deviation (s)
Square root of survey dispersion.

6. R
p
mechanical characteristic value at a given degree of reliability, according to STAS 8068-67.

where
p probability index, which expresses in percents the probability for the mechanical characteristic value
determined on a lot sample to be higher or equal to Rp, at the most;
Z coefficient to be chosen from the table below, depending on the reliability degree.

Reliability degree 95 97.5 97.7* 98
Z 1.645 1.965 2.000 2.054
NOTE: * Round value for Z to be integer.

B. Example of the statistical parameters calculus

1. Raw values have been arranged in an ascending order and grouped in classes k = 7, of an a = 5kgf/mm
2

amplitude (the first class 170174 displays a minimum inferior value equal to the minimum standardized value).

2. Relative frequencies n
i
= 100 !
n
n
i
have been determined and rounded to integers.

3. C = M

2
has been selected

Determined value is higher than the minimum standardized value of 170 kgf/mm
