Proficy HMI/SCADA - CIMPLICITY is based on a clientserver architecture consisting of Servers and Viewers. Servers are responsible for the collection and distribution of data. Viewers connect to Servers have full access to the collected data for viewing and control actions. Servers and Viewers can be easily networked together to seamlessly share data without the need to replicate your point database from node to node. For example, points are configured once and only once on a server. Screens can be developed and stored in a single location on the network and accessed by any other CIMPLICITY display on the network.
Proficy HMI/SCADA - iFIX is a client/server-based HMI/SCADA component of GE Fanuc's family of software automation products. Based on open, component-based technology, iFIX is designed to allow easy integration and interoperability between your plant floor and business systems. It includes functional and architectural features that reduce the design time for automation projects, allow simple system upgrades and maintenance, provide seamless integration with third-party applications, and increase productivity. The SCADA portion of iFIX provides monitoring, supervisory control, alarming, and control functions. It guarantees the absolute integrity of data and provides complete distributed networking capabilities. The HMI portion of iFIX is the window into your process. It provides all the tools you need to develop pictures that operators can use to monitor your process. Introduction to Proficy Process Systems

2006 GE Fanuc Automation All R ights Reserved Data Collection & Archiving Proficy Historian
Proficy Historian is a high performance data archiving system designed to efficiently collect, store and retrieve time-based information at extremely high speed efficiently. The system architecture consists of the following: Historian Server The Historian server is the central point for managing all the client and collector interfaces, storing and (optionally) compressing data and retrieving data. All tag data (numbers, strings, BLOBs) are stored in a proprietary format in the archive database. The Archive Database consists of several files, each of which represents a specific time period of historical data. The server also manages the storage and retrieval of OPC alarms and events in either a SQL Server or MSDE database. Collectors The Historian includes several types of data collectors for collecting data from a wide variety of applications. The Calculation collector is designed to perform math and analysis on Historian data and store the results on the server. The Server-to-Server collector boasts the same calculation capabilities as the Calculation collector, but it stores the results on a remote server. Most collectors are capable of performing first-order dead band compression as well as a browse & add configuration and store & forward buffering. Clients All client applications retrieve archived data through the Historian API. The Historian API is a client /server programming interface that maintains connectivity to the Historian Server and provides functions for data storage and retrieval in a distributed network environment.

Proficy Change Management is a system manager hosted in the Engineering Workstation environment. It is the version control, security, and Audit Trail system for your automation and control development process. Proficy Change Management is made up of two programs: a Server and a Client. The Server stores Proficy Change Management configuration files and the projects that are kept under version and access control. Clients connect to the Server to acquire settings or request project files. A typical Proficy Change Management system includes a Server installation on a network computer and Client installation on each workstation.
