Language Points A. Past Tense 2 4 6 8 Incorrect use of tense Uses simple past tense e.g. We saw nan and pop. Uses simple past tense correctly in all of the text Uses past tense, uses irregular verbs correctly B. Action Words 2 4 6 8 Incorrect use of action words Uses simple action verbs e.g. I saw, I went, I did Uses action verbs e.g. I played, I used I watched, Uses more interesting action verbs e.g. I travelled, I wondered, We glimpsed C. Time and Linking Words 1 2 3 4 Incorrect use of time and linking words Short sentences, sometimes links phrases with and, then Uses linking words and time words to sequence events e.g. after that, next, because Uses linking words to show time e.g before, later in the day, that evening D. Punctuation and paragraphs 1 2 3 4 Incorrect use of punctuation and paragraph Uses capital letters at the beginning of sentences and a full stop at the end. Uses capital letters for names and sentence beginnings and full stops and sometimes exclamation or question marks.
Uses a range of punctuation including commas in lists and breaks the parts of the text into paragraphs.
