King Janaka, the king of Mithila was childless. One day while he was
ploughing the field he found a beautiful infant girl. King Janaka accepted
the chiled as a boon from the gods and adopted her. Born from the earths
furrow she was named Sita. She was also called Maithili as she was the
daughter of the king of Mithila and Janki as she was daughter of king
Janaka. Ragarding birth of Sita, its mentioned in Ramayan that
svayambhu Manu and his wife Shatroopa did severe penance for
thousands of yeas, so lord Vishnu appeared before them being pleased
by it and asked them to take boons. Manu Vaishvawat and Shatroopa
expressed their desire that the lord Vishnu be born to them as a son. Lord
Vishnu granted this boon to them and said that they should rest and
enjoy for sometime in Amarawati the capital of devas after which they will
be born as Dasharatha & Kaushalya who will be king and first queen of
kingdom of Avadh, and he will be born to them as a son named Rama
Chandra. He also told them that the mother Shakti who created the
universe and also called maya will also be born alongwith him as Sita
from the womb of the earth. So Sita was found by king Janaka from within
the furrow of the plough in the field which was ploughed by the king from
the king for the purpose of a yajna.

THE PICTORIAL
RAMAYANA
lfp=
jkek;.k
Ramayana is the greatest Epic ever made in the World which
depicts beautifully the devotion of a king, a son, a brother, a
wife and the duties of a man in this world. Lord Vishnu
incarnated himself as a man to show the world the path of
ultimate, success and peace in life. The most respected
Grantha of a Hindu family was first written by Rishi Valmiki
in Sanskrit but Goswami Tulsidas gave this great epic the
true form by writing Ramcharitmanas and made it the
favourite of everybody whether he be rich or poor, educated
or non-educated, man or woman, young or old.
