2 4-Credit Online Course on School/ Children Librarianship
Introduction:
For individual Learning start right from the birth of a person. Various skills need to be inculcate during the childhood that would enhance childrens cognitive domain, psycho- motor skills, and affective domain. It is utmost necessary to develop right kind of skills in a children that transform them into a learned adults and better citizens. It is very important to encounter the children with right information at the right age. In this regard a well established library play a key role in indivuals life. Different services of School/ Children Libraries concentrate on the needs of young reader. These libraries promote importance of information among young readers. Libraries teach them skills of identifying and locating information. Libraries can play major role in developing reading habits among young readers at early age. From ancient times libraries are the hub of learning. Researchers have also demonstrated that school libraries have a positive impact on student achievement regardless of the socio-economic status. It is very crucial that library personel working for young readers need to know their young library users. It is necessary for libraries to develop their collection and services that are needed to satisfy the various needs of their young readers.

Pre-Course Activities:
1. Register yourself for the Online Course by sending email to libraryinfosc@sndt.ac.in with an attachment of Registration Form. 2. On sending the Registration form, you will get an invitation from the Course Coordinator. Once admitted to the course please send DD for Rs. 7000/- (in case of SNDTWU student it will be Rs. 6000/-) in favour of SHPT School of Library Science, payable at Mumbai. 3. You will get an invitation from the Course Coordinator/Admin to log in to your Moodle Account, specially created for this Online course. 4. A blog (School/ Children Librarianship) is created for this Online Course, all participants are required to visit this blog regularly. 5. Pl create your own blog for this course using blogger.com. Pl invite the teachers/ instructors of this course to your blog. All these blogs will be connected to the Course blog. Participants are expected to write on their blog regularly (including 6 some assignments). You will be posting on this blog your thoughts, reflections as well as some assignments. 6. Resources will be posted on the Moodle Course website so that all participants get access to all the resource material. 7. There will a One Hour Synchronous Interaction per week. This will be done through WizIQ (wiziq.com). The poll will be created for this activity on Moodle. Pl register your choice. An invitation for the synchronous class will be sent to you on your mail.
Course methodology:
It is an online course conducted using Moodle as Learning Management System (LMS) and WizIQ for Synchronous Sessions. The learning Modules will be posted on Course website on Moodle. Detailed course schedule is posted on the website which will give you an idea of all the activities/assignments/project work etc. expected of you. There will be lot of group work as well. Active participation of all the participants is very essential.
Post Course Activities:
The course aims at facilitating the process of understanding concepts and trends in School/ Children Librarianship. A Certificate of successful participation will be issued by the Department on completion of all tasks/assignments.
