to Murder Her Husband.
Date: December 17, 2000
Crime: The murder of Air Force
Captain Marty Theer
Circumstances: Michelle Theer
engaged in an affair with John
Diamond, and the two plotted to
murder her husband.
Incriminating Evidence: 88,000
e-mails and Instant Messages were
found on Theer's computer
documenting the affair and subsequent
conspiracy.
Verdict: On December 3, 2004 Theer was found
guilty of murder and conspiracy with a sentence
of life imprisonment.
Date: January 1st, 2002
Crime: The kidnapping of 13
year old Alicia Kozakiweicz
Circumstances: Scott Tyree
kidnapped and bound a girl in his
basement.
Incriminating Evidence: Tyree sent a photo
of the girl to another man from his IM account
"masterforteenslavegirls". The other man then
contacted the police after reading about a
missing teen in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Verdict: Tyree was sentenced to 19 years and
7 months in a federal prison.
Groomed for Abduction
Crime: The murder of 10 individuals
Circumstances: Dennis Rader known
as the BTK (Blind, Torture, Kill) Killer
had eluded the police for over 30 years.
Incriminating Evidence:
When Rader re-emerged after taking another
victim, he sent police a letter on a floppy disk.
Rader believed there was nothing else on the
disk, however it contained a Microsoft Word file
that police then examined. Using the metadata
they were able to locate and identify Rader.
Verdict: Rader is serving 10 consecutive life
sentences at a prison in Kansas.

Date: 2005
Crime: Possession of child
pornography
Circumstances: Corey Beantee Melton
brought his malfunctioning home computer to
Best Buys Geek Squad for virus removal.
Incriminating Evidence: After locating
several virsuses the store found them
re-attaching to movies. The videos were soon
identified as child pornography and the police
were contacted.
Verdict: Melton was sentenced to 10 years
in prison.
