On Thursday, September 30th, 2010 a Beta test was conducted

for The Eecoshark 480-3 Phase Inductive Power Conditioner

at the building known as 6151 Powers Ferry Rd. in Atlanta, GA.
The Director of Engineering for this facility, John Coleman,
graciously allowed access to his central plant where we initially
installed The Eecoshark on to the motor starter for the
building's one central air handler unit (AHU). This unit was
equipped with a 125 HP electric motor that has vortex generator
dampers as part of its variable flow design.
We energized the The Eecoshark using a new EMC 8335
Power Pad electric meter and saw a tremendous drop in amps,
a smoothing out of the voltages across each phase, a correction
for power factor, and a substantial drop in KVAR. Mr. Coleman
witnessed the drop in amps and asked if he could do a check
with his own amp meter. He verified our initial findings with his
Amprobe meter and was expectedly surprised with the test
results.
On Friday, October 1st, 2010, we were invited to install The
Eecoshark 480-3 Phase Inductive Power Conditioner on to
the centrifugal chiller at the same building. We recorded similar
drops in amperage, Volt- amps and KVAR. Power Factor
similarly, was corrected and phase to phase voltage was
smoother. All results are below and were obtained with the
AEMC 8335 Power Pad meter.

Conclusions

The Eecoshark has lowered electrical demand for the two
large user devices at the facilty that we tested. It appears that
The Eecoshark will not only condition power, but due to its
design, will also act as a surge protection device against the
equivalent of a lightning strike. The drop in amperage was
remarkable for the two units. The reduction in KVAR
consumption would show a substantial drop in electric costs
over the course of one year.
