Central Minnesotas Premier 9-Hole Course
Meadowlark Country Club is a public, 9-hole golf course located on the south side of Melrose. The
course was built in 1963 by volunteers and members, and today is owned by shareholders who put
prots back into the course.
Meadowlark is proud of its well-manicured 9 holes that offer seasoned golfers a challenge,
with long holes with water hazards on ve of the holes. Meadowlarks ve sets of tees
promotes the USGA Tee-It-Forward Initiative that makes golf more enjoyable for all golfers.
Players are encouraged to play from a different set of tees each time they play to change the
experience of the course. Children ten and under play free with a paying adult and green fees
are the most affordable in the area. Tee times are readily available most days.
Stop at Meadowlark and play the challenging and beautiful water holes. Five out
of nine holes have water hazards! Meadowlark has also been spending extra time
on the greens. The special attention has led to a speeding up of the greens and more
consistent play.

- Tests for functionality of trailer. Such as: Do the ramps work? Can someone safely load a vehicle on this
trailer? Is the toolbox usable? Etc.
- Ixamines seciaIly lraiIers for unique add-ons, customer-specified features, colors, etc.
- Accepts or rejects parts and records inspection results. Discusses inspection and test results with quality
assurance, production, and engineering personnel.

Strawberry
Frozen Yogurt Squares
Preparation
Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with foil. Sprinkle
cereal evenly on the bottom of the pan; set aside.
Place yogurt, strawberries and condensed milk in a blender; cover and blend until smooth. Pour
the mixture over top of cereal, gently smoothing yogurt mixture to edges of pan. Cover with foil
(or plastic wrap) and freeze for 8 hours or until rm. Use edges of foil to loosen and remove from
pan; let recipe thaw for 5 to 10 minutes. Cut into squares, top with whipped topping, if desired,
and serve.
Storage tip: Squares may be individually wrapped and frozen for single servings.
Note: Create your own variations by using other avor combinations of yogurt and fruit.

Sheep fit perfectly into Liesers family routine
SPRING HILL Den- nis Lieser and his family have heard jokes about being the Good Shepherd.
The jokes are true to a point. The Liesers are shep- herds, although they may not be the image most have. Lies- er, his wife, Brenda, and their sons, Jeremy and Jordan, man- age a ock of 1,600 sheep on their farm northwest of Spring Hill, which could grow to over 2,000 before summer ends. We all work together, said Brenda. We take care of them in the morning and when
ALBANY Jerry Mergen is a busy man. As an owner of JT Electric in Albany, his days stay packed with things to do. But when he heads home to the country, just southwest of Albany, he likes to leave work behind. To help him do that, Mergen has acquired several hobbies over the years, including gar- dening and beekeeping. But there is one more hobby that joined his list nearly 15 years ago: woodworking.
After seeing a piece of intricate wooden art at a church in Spicer, Mergen was inspired to try it for himself.
I saw it and I thought, I can do that, Mer- gen said. Now, I like to go home in the evening and work on my projects. It really helps me relax and keeps me from bringing work home with me.
When his time allows, Mergen heads out to the shop he built next to his home and starts up his scroll saw to begin creating masterpieces.

we come home in the afternoon.
The ability to work together as a family was one of the reasons the Liesers started working with sheep about ve years after having moved onto Dennis home place about 15 years ago. They had elk for a time but found sheep were a lot easier to care for.
Sheep are more docile than elk, said Dennis. They are quite easy to take care of. Dennis was familiar with sheep even before they brought a ock to the farm.
I had sheep when I was in high school, he said.
Once he got back into raising sheep, he found he liked working with them. They also t easily into their off-the- farm work schedule. Dennis drives truck for Melrose Feed Mill and Brenda works at Up- hus Law Of ce. Jeremy is an Alex Vo-Tech student and Jor- dan, a 10th grader at Melrose Area High School, works part time at Bayer Gas and Grocery in Elrosa.
With dairy cows, you have to be there twice a day,
said Dennis. With sheep, its a little easier to work around your schedule.
Two years ago, the Liesers enlarged their ock. At the time, Jeremy had decided to attend Alex Vo-Tech.
We had to decide if we were going to downsize the herd or build a new barn. We built the barn, said Dennis. The 53- by 90-foot barn is designed to help with lambing and raising lambs for sale.
