EPA MISSION
Work with state, and local governments, industries and key
groups to implement cost-effective programs that reduce
greenhouse gases, and save energy through clean
technologies such as:
Combined heat and power (Solar Panels)
Solar powered electricity
Current Level of Energy
Consumption/Demand
Of the total energy
consumed in America,
about 40% is used to
generate electricity.
Therefore, electricity
consumption is an
important portion
All forms of electricity
generation have some level
of environmental impact,
most of the electricity in
the United States is
generated using fossil
fuels such as coal,
natural gas and oil.

A small but growing
percentage is generated
using renewable sources
such as solar and wind.
Negative impact
Carbon-dioxide is the main reason of global warming.
Coal-burning power plants are the largest source of carbon dioxide in the
United States. They produce around 2.5 billion tons of carbon-dioxide each
year.
Nuclear power plants can melt down and endanger our environment and
the lives of people.
Energy Resources
Point of View
We want to prevent global warming. We should encourage people to generate
solar energy, instead of relying only on coal, and oil,or natural gases (propane,
gases) which harm the environment. Americans need to recycle more products
(plastic bottles, glass etc) so things are reusable and less is being made.

We want to decrease the use of nuclear energy. Whenever a nuclear power plant
melts down, many lives are put in danger as well as the environment.

we want to use water heating, and air heating, as well as Photovoltaic Solar
Panels
Energy Policy
The United States government should:
o Increase tax subsidies to encourage people to buy
solar panels.

Cost
Solar energy cost around 12 to 30 cents per kilowatt hour.
In a span of 15 years, the use of solar panels has increased by 20%
because of the decrease in the price each year.
Coal energy costs 2.10 USD/watts to be constructed
In total about 415 million dollars in research, and implementing better
environmental factors.

Low End water heating
Solar Panels Cost
range
$100-$3500
Water heating for 2 or 3
bedroom apartments
High End water heating
Solar Panels Cost
range
$7,000 $10,000 Water Heating for
entire single family
home
Benefits
It creates a lot of manufacturing jobs, high paying jobs.
The solar industry produced around 100,000 American jobs.
With the increase in demand for solar energy, more jobs would be created.
For example, the Long Island Solar Farm produces enough electricity to
power nearly 4,500 homes, and created more than 200 construction jobs.
