Located : Bungku Village and Bukit Duabelas National
Park in Jambi Province (Indonesia).
Ecosystem type : Secondary Forest, Jungle Rubber, Rubber
Plantation and Oil Palm Plantation.
Permanent plot of 1m1m as sampling area. Every
quadrate put 100 plastic cup (pitfall trap) was place in each
ecosystem with the lip of the trap level as soil surface.
Litter depth level was also measured in each permanent
plot with five (5) repetition.
INTRODUCTION METHOD
Object
Compare the ants
species in changing of
forest ecosystem ???
There are five subfamilies of ants that lived in those four
ecosystems, namel y Dol i choderi nae, Formi ci nae,
Myrmicinae, Ponerinae and Pseudomyrmycinae.
Based on Figure 1. showed the Secondary Forest and
Jungle Rubber presence higher numbers of ants than other
monoculture ecosystems. Comparison between the four
ecosystems revealed that, Rubber Plantation have more litter
depth followed by Secondary Forest with Oil Palm Plantation
recording the lowest. Opposite with Sabu et al. ( 2008),
reported that the high abundance of ants is attributed to high
litter depth, the more open and dry the litter habitat conditions.

As evaluated by Sorensen's similarity,
Secondary Forest and Oil Palm Plantation ecosystems, was the
highes coefficient, whilst that between Rubber Plantaion and Oil
Palm Plantation were the lowest as also reported by Sabu et al.
(2008).

CONCLUSIONS and IMPLICATIONS
Based on the result obtained, it is quite clear that the relationship between the litter depth in ecosystems with number of
species and number of individual is uncertainly predictable. Changing of forest ecosystems into monoculture crop such as (oil
palm plantation) helps in getting good similarity, by controlling biodiversity of ants including ecosytems-specific or special species.
