What have we done regarding the Kath Murdoch Inquiry model?
What have we done regarding the development of ICT (tools) in the classroom?
Teachers have implemented and trailed different strategies to develop teacher inquiry. Shared progress and reflections in staff meetings. Developed systems that can continue in classroom programmes. Observations of Teaching Inquiry being implemented in classroom across school. Sharing session across cluster. Developed rubrics for Research Skills and Key Competencies. Used Check Ups: at least 3 per unit (from Kaths day). Purchased resources to help support Inquiry model. Practical action taken at the end of a unit: Market Day. Started to complete documentation around Inquiry. Techies and especially the one at Enrich. Using flip videos etc. Inter staff sharing of ideas and tips relating to ICT use. 2 classes have been to Enrich and shared their results. Staff continuing to develop the use of the IWB through the ILT sessions. Reflection: Reflection: Reflection: -Good to see people being involved in the Teaching Inquiry, having a focus and some linking to school focus. This also can link into the appraisal system. -Sharing and observing ideas and strategies across school and sub cluster has been beneficial and supportive. -Student knowledge in the area of self and peer assessment has improved. They are able to use the language, give constructive feedback to buddies, set their own and/or class developed next steps. -Student achievement has increased.
-Confidence is growing within the school. -Check Ups have been great to help support focus. -Starting to develop a thinking toolbox for our school.
-Confidence is growing within the school when using IWB and other ICT tools. -At school assemblies there is a lot more sharing of work through the ICT medium. -Staff are starting to store things online e.g. the school Google site, network drives.
Next Steps: Next Steps: Next Steps: -Continue on with Teacher Inquiry. -Data and examples of T.I in action both before and at the end of the Inquiry. -We found it beneficial that there was a group focus but we know that to include all and be relative to all teachers there does have to be an element of choice. -Teacher developed resources to be stored on google site. -Make sure we have a regular sharing time e.g. once or twice a term. -Use this template to help teachers share and record where theyre at. - Develop assessment tasks based around key understandings across the school (progression). - Complete documentation. -Continue to develop own knowledge of Inquiry and how we use it at Makarewa School. -In planning inquiries make sure there is a range of outcomes e.g. social action, whole school. -Ongoing development of thinking and ICT toolbox.
-Get ianimate on the C.O.W computers. -Increase hardware in classrooms. - Encourage parent/community involvement and sharing using the classroom blogs. -Run Parent Sessions to increase their knowledge and encourage community participation. - Explicitly integrate ICT learning intentions with our Inquiry planning if there is a natural fit. -Refine the Makarewa Learning Toolbox to make it more user friendly and then implement in the classrooms. -Staff still wanting to develop blogging in the classroom.
