Pressure Vessels.
Best practices Design, Inspection, Maintenance & Operation
API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspection Code
I nspection, Rating, Repair and Alteration.
I NTRODUCTI ON
This practical, applications-oriented course covers pressure vessel design, inspection
and maintenance. Upon completion of this course, delegates will be able to evaluate
the mechanical design of pressure vessels in accordance with the ASME Code Section
VIII. They will also be able to develop a pressure vessel maintenance program based
on API 510 and other industry practices, and then apply these requirements to typical
pressure vessel maintenance situations.
This course will provide an overview of pressure vessel maintenance, including
inspection, evaluation of various defects, and repair/alteration rules of various Codes
and Standards. Simple evaluation methods for several types of defects will be
described, and their use demonstrated using sample problems.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Inspection engineers and supervisors.
Maintenance and production engineers and supervisors who are personally
responsible for the reliable design, operation, maintenance and repair of
pressure vessels
Individuals who are responsible for evaluating the mechanical integrity of in-
service pressure vessels in process plant applications.
Managers who are responsible for implementing a pressure vessel
maintenance program and desire an understanding of applicable evaluation
procedures.
OBJ ECTI VES
Delegates attending the programme will:
Gain an understanding of Pressure Vessel Design
Learn how to recognise Deterioration and Failure Modes applicable to
Pressure Vessels.
Learn how to use API 510 code.
Understand how to apply the several inspection methods as required by the
API 510 code.
Understand how to apply API RP 579 Fitness For Service and API RP 580
Risk Based Inspection

Competencies Emphasised
Delegates will enhance their competencies in the following areas:
Mechanical design of pressure vessels in compliance with applicable codes,
standards, and regulations.
Engineering materials properties and selection criteria for specific
applications.
Identification and assessment of active degradation mechanisms and the
failures they may cause.
Hazard identification and risk analysis and management.
Application of risk-based methodologies in inspection and maintenance.
Organizational I mpact
Take full advantage of the best industry practice of API RP 510 "Pressure
Vessel Inspection Code" to avoid unnecessary shutdowns, replacements or
repairs while maintaining the pressure vessels to API 510 code.
Make cost-effective run-or-repair decisions for equipment in-service Plan,
repair or replace projects, where necessary, based on the timely Pressure
Vessel Inspection Code prediction of remaining life of Pressure Vessels.
Personal I mpact
Delegates will:
Receive the opportunity to extend his/her expertise in equipment design,
defect assessment, and equipment integrity analysis
Learn the fundamental requirements specified in the ASME Code.
Receive the information necessary to develop a pressure vessel maintenance
program and evaluate pressure vessel mechanical integrity in accordance with
API 510 and other industry practices

Please note that delegates should bring a working copy of API510
