I have recently seen the job posting for the New Graduate Nurse Resident at XYZ Hospital. I have spoken
with the Nursing Residency Coordinator about this position and its opportunities throughout my time at
Moffitt Cancer Center. It is with great excitement that I present my resume to you for the Nursing
Residency Program as a Registered Nurse at the XYZ Hospital.
In my clinical experience, I have been able to work in a wide variety of settings such as Medical Surgical,
Intensive Care, Emergency Care, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Community, and Psychiatric units. Working in
such an array of places allowed me to learn as much as possible and develop strong critical thinking skills
for the challenging career that nursing is. For my final nursing preceptorship, I chose to focus on
oncology nursing and spent my time on Sarasota Memorial Hospitals oncology and overflow unit to
better help me understand the different types of cancer patients and to absorb knowledge on oncology
nursing. I recently completed a quality improvement project on catheter-associated urinary tract infections
to help improve the workplace through the reduction of these infections using evidence based practice
research.
My experience in oncology nursing, leadership skills, and educational excellence with my ability to adapt
quickly to new areas and think critically but quickly in situations allows me to work well under pressure.
These are assets that I consider important to work at on a team such as the great team of professionals that
are at XYZ Hospital. XYZs mission is something that I would love to be a part of as I see how important
it is to todays society and have experienced through family the petrifying effects of cancer.
