JOB DESCRIPTION

Job title: R&D Associate

WL (pay scale): 1B

Location: HURC, Mumbai

Purpose & Context (1) Support rapidly growing Pure it business from 75 cr to 180 cr between 07 and 08.
Target NPS for 09 is 350 cr. Several new projects for 09 to achieve above growth
without any additional manpower being proposed.

(2) Support Pureit rollout outside India

(3) Work on some of other country specific projects like Online Purifier, M07, hot /
cold water purifiers for China, in-line MO5 etc.

Deliverables of the a) To provide design and packaging support to new ideas through interactions with
Role internal and external partners like product dev team, design agencies, suppliers etc.
This includes activities like prototype developments, mould development, primary and
secondary packaging development, master batch development etc.

b) To optimize cost of existing packaging materials (plastics, Silicon items, outer

packing materials etc) and develop new alternates. Initiate design changes, material
changes, alternate suppliers, simplification etc.

c) To validate design developments wrt functionality, manufacturing feasibility,

product-package compatibility etc. This requires good understanding of the product,
processes and system. He should be able to develop in-house testing and validation
test methods.

d) To work on new business requirements like new pack development, new

colour developments, SKU packaging changes etc via making prototypes, taking
trials, artwork changes etc.

e) To develop new suppliers and to improve existing suppliers to meet the

required standards of product quality prescribed by Unilever.

f) To improve the quality of the product by design changes, material changes, etc
where necessary.

Required Software Skill:

Professional skills 1) Pro-e/UG.
2) Autocad
3) Microsoft Office

Working Skills:
1) Packaging design & development.
2) Various type of plastics & their application
3) New Model/SKU Development.
4) Quality Improvement through Design Change & validation.
5) New Supplier Development & Production Support.
6) Mould Design, Structure & development.

Required experience Minimum Graduate in Engineering
• Education PG Diploma in Tooling/Polymers/Packaging is preferred

• Work experience
At least 03 years in packaging design/ Polymer Development/tooling

• Industry Preference
