Kia ora koutou
What a wet and wild start to the week! Tuesday was a very soggy day but all students coped admirably. It is
nice to see the sunshine again today so things can begin to dry out. :)

A huge thank you to the many parents who have returned the consultation from last week. Together we can
make a difference. It is not too late to return yours if you have not done so. If you have questions around the
consultation feel free to ring or see me. I will send out the results with next weeks newsletter.

There are three significant events taking place in the next few weeks. The first one is parent interviews that
are being held this coming Wednesday 18th June from 1.00pm until 6.00pm. Today your child will bring
home a form for you to complete about your interview time. Please return this to the office so we can
coordinate interviews. We will confirm your time on Tuesday of next week at the latest. Teachers will have a
written report for you when you attend the interview. The purpose of the interview is to keep you up to date
with where your child is in reading, writing and maths, where to next and how you can support your child.

The second important event is the Maromaku Sports Day taking place next Friday 20th June. We have Year
3/4, Year 5/6 and Year 7/8 netball and rugby teams competing. A huge thank you to the parents who have
agreed to support in terms of transport and supervision, not to mention encouragement. I am looking
forward to a successful day together.

The third special event is our school wide learning about Matariki. Matariki is a time to remember family
members, reflect, spend with family and celebrate each other. On Thursday 18th June the senior classes
will be learning how to weave kites with Harko Brown at Te Tii. Your child will bring home a permission slip
about this. Students will walk there and back. We warmly welcome parents and whnau to join us for this
great opportunity. On Thursday 26th June Rooms 2, 3, 4 and 5 are having a noho (sleepover). Students
from those classes will bring home a notice about this. On Friday 27th June our whole school is going to
celebrate new knowledge and waiata (songs) about Matariki. In the morning classes will be making and
flying kites, gardening, and cooking. We will have a shared lunch together, followed by a special assembly
with all classes sharing and a kapa haka performance. We would love to see lots of parents and whnau
join us.

Never a dull moment at Paihia School!
Have a great week. Ka pai ou wiki. Ka kite

New Lunch Menu
The fresh sandwiches and rolls from the bakery went well this week and this menu will be available again
tomorrow, Friday. Sadly, The Noodle Bar is unable to continue providing sushi and soup over the winter months.
So at the moment we are back to the old menu on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please note that flavoured
milks go off the menu once stocks run out.
We are hoping to offer some more healthy options and will keep you updated in the newsletter.
