TT1221 and TT1222

Single Channel SD 4:2:0 Receiver
The TT1221 & TT1222 represents an
evolution of the successful and
proven technology of the TT1220
receiver. It is optimized to meet the
requirements of cable head-ends
worldwide, supporting PAL, NTSC and
SECAM video standards.
Business Benefits

Cost Effective Solution
The TT1221 and TT1222 are
designed to be shipped in
large volume, offering an
unmatched price/
performance in the
professional receiver market.

Secure Transmission
The TT1221 can be delivered
with TANDBERG Director
whilst the TT1222 can be
delivered with NDS
Videoguard and Common
Interface, compliant with
most major CA systems.

Professional Monitoring
With a wide range of input
interfaces and simple TS
measurement, the TT1221
and TT1222 are ideal for
monitoring Satellite
networks.

Single Service Descrambler
Equipped with an ASI output
delivering a descrambled
feed, the TT1221 and
TT1222 can be used as a
single channel descrambler.

Application
Cable Head-End
Capable of receiving digital feeds from Satellite links, IP Distribution Networks or
directly via an ASI feed. The TT1221 and TT1222 deliver broadcast quality Video
and Audio and can handle all major video formats including PAL, NTSC and SECAM.
The receivers are capable of descrambling one selected service and delivering it as
an ASI output. This helps the migration from analogue to digital networks.
American Cable Head-End
The TT1221A/BAS is specially designed for the American cable market. The
receiver is a cost effective, feature rich unit, based around the highly secure
TANDBERG Director CA system. In addition to Conditional Access, TANDBERG
Director offers Over-Air Control and Software Download reducing the need for local
operators and offers an easy way of controlling a large receiver deployment.
The TT1221 comes with all the functionality expected of a professional cable
receiver including Dual QPSK front-end, broadcast quality Video output and Cue-
Tone trigger for local ad-insertion. The TT1221 also offers an easy to use front
panel interface with a separate OSD connector for connection to a local monitor.
Satellite Distribution & Contribution
The TT1221 and TT1222 can be used as a satellite receiver at receive sites and also
for the monitoring of content delivery. As the receivers supports a wide range of
DVB open standard and proprietary scrambling systems, it is well suited to operate
in a large number of different satellite distribution systems.
The TT1221 can also be utilised in a highly secure TANDBERG Director network
management and receiver control system. This system enables the operator to
accurately control who receives their output and using the over air control facilities
ensure that receivers are correctly tuned and their content scheduled. Again this
removes the necessity for remote sites to be manned at all times.
IP Distribution & Contribution*
The TT1221 and TT1222 can be enabled to receive a Single Program Transport
Stream (SPTS) on the 10/100 BaseT IP port. This makes it possible to receive and
decode video transmitted over an IP backbone network offering a cost-effective
alternative to Satellite Distribution. This is an ideal solution for many Cable
operators where they can merge telephony, Internet access and video onto one
network. This will reduce operational and maintenance cost. Combined with
TANDBERG Televisions nCompass Monitoring Solution, this will offer full control of
the network.

Base Units
TT1221 American Cable Receiver (TT1221A/BAS)
The TT1221; the American Cable Receiver variant, is specially designed for the US cable market. The unit includes broadcast
quality NTSC video output, dual audio, Screw-Terminal Audio connectors, On-Screen Display and Cue-Tone connector. This
receiver has integrated the highly secure and functional TANDBERG Director CA and Over-Air control system.

TT1222 Common Interface Receiver (TT1222/CIBAS)
The TT1222 Common Interface (CI) variant is capable of descrambling most of the Conditional Access systems found in
Europe and Asia. The T1222/CIBAS can be equipped with either QPSK or ASI input, has dual audio as standard and can be
fitted with both ASI and SDI output.

TT1222 NDS BSkyB Receiver (TT1222/BSKYBBAS)
The TT1222 NDS BSkyB variant is designed to descramble and decode the BSkyB variant of NDS VideoGuard. This unit can
be selected with the same functionality as the TT1222/CIBAS, other variants of NDS VideoGuard can be integrated if
required.
Standard Features
Video Decoding
The TT1221 and TT1222 support MPEG 4:2:0 decoding for all video resolutions with a maximum video bit-rate of 15Mbit/s.
It performs automatic selection of PAL/SECAM/NTSC video formats and has extensive VBI support, Aspect Ratio Conversion
functionality and full subtitling capabilities.

Audio Decoding
The TT1221 and TT1222 models supports both Musicam and Dolby Digital and features two stereo pairs of analogue audio
output. These can be configured as stereo, joint stereo or dual mono modes. Both receivers supports the following audio
outputs:
Analogue balanced
Musicam Layer 1 & 2
S/PDIF digital audio
Dolby digital AC-3 pass-through
Dolby AC-3 downmix

Control and Monitoring
The TT1221 and TT1222 have an easy to use front panel display for local control and are integrated with TANDBERG
Televisions own management control solutions, i.e. TDC and nCompass for advanced remote control and monitoring. The
receiver also offer an integrated Web browser for easy setup control and monitoring.

The TT1221 and TT1222 can also be integrated into most control systems through TANDBERG proprietary RS232 Remote
Control protocol or through SNMP control. These protocols and SNMP MIBs are available to customers and software
suppliers to enable them to create their own control applications.

Cable Head-End Ad Insertion (TT1221A/BAS Only)
The TT1221 has an extensive support for local ad-insertion in Cable head-ends. The receiver has a dedicated connector
supporting DTMF Cue-Tone and up to 3 open collector outputs for Cue-Tone Trigger. For digital head-ends, the TT1221
supports DPI messaging via the ASI output connector found on the TT1221/HWO/ASI-SDI hardware module.
