The Healthy U Now Foundation Approach to Autism

Julie A. Buckley, MD

Several weeks ago, the CDC re-
leased the latest autism statistics. Te
number has risen to 1 in 68. It repre-
sents a 30% increase in the rates since
2012. Te announcement of this alarm-
ing escalation in rates was met with re-
sounding silence from a country whose
citizens seem to have gone numb to re-
ports of the endlessly rising numbers of
children with autism.
Every 11 minutes another child is diag-
nosed with autism.
On average it costs $3.2 million dol-
lars to raise a child with autism over the
course of a lifetime.
And there is no end in sight.
Unless you change your approach to
the problem.
What If?
What if there was a place for the
entire family to get the help they
needed when autism lives in the
house?
What if there was a place for families
to be able to learn and share their
wisdom about nutrition, diet, and
nourishing themselves?
What if there was a place that
siblings could do homework or relax
while a child with autism received
therapy?
What if there was a residential
setting, both short and longer term,
where gluten free, casein free,
organic diets, and supplements were
the norm and expected parts of
health and healing?
What if there was a place with
myriad therapies from dogs to zip
lines, organic gardens, work/
educational opportunities, and
healthy living environments all
rolled up into one?
What if the community was
welcomed to come in, to embrace the
lessons of health and healing that our
children with autism are teaching us,
to participate, and to be a part of this
therapeutic center?
What if all this was rolled up into
one facility?

put fesh on this dream. Founded in 2012
as a 501c3 nonproft organization, our
goal is to bring the vision of this central-
ized community to life. Our initial location
will be in NE Florida. Currently, we are in
the process of raising funds to secure a lo-
