without evaluation. The Four Thoughts Then we focus on the four basic thoughts, which turn mind towards liberation and enlightenment: We recognize our precious opportunity in this life, that we can beneft countless beings through the methods of a Buddha. Few people ever meet Diamond Way teachings and even fewer are able to use them. We remember the impermanence of every- thing composite. Only the unlimited clear space of mind is lasting and it is uncertain how long conditions will remain for recognizing it. We understand causality. That it is up to us what will happen. Former thoughts, words and actions became our present state and right now we are sowing the seeds for our future. Finally, we see the reasons for working with mind. Enlightenment is timeless highest bliss, and we cannot beneft others while confused or disturbed ourselves. Therefore we now open up to those who can teach us. Refuge and the Enlightened Attitude To bring all beings to enlightenment, we take refuge: In the Buddha, minds full development, In his Teachings which bring us there, In the Bodhisattvas, our friends on the way, And especially in the Lama. He unites blessing, methods and protection and appears in his life- prolonging form as the Buddha of Limitless Life. Building-up Phase Like a fsh jumping out of water, we appear in an instant as the Buddha of Limitless Life. We are radiantly red, the colour of fresh blood. Our body is transparent and we wear all the ornaments that express the joy state of the Buddhas (the fve pointed crown, the earrings, short and long necklaces, the belt, the fve co- loured robes around our hips and bracelets around our wrists and ankles). Our hands hold a vase flled with the nectar of long life in our lap. Our body is athletic and strong. At heart level in the middle of our chest is half a sun with the fat side facing upwards. At its centre stands the syllable HRIH. Around the outer edge of the sun are the long and the short mantras. They turn in a clockwise direction. Above the mantras, the same size as the half- sun, is half a moon. Its fat side is facing downwards. Now from the mantra ring a multi-coloured but mainly red light shines out to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of all times and directions. Female or male, peaceful or protective, single or united, when the light touches them they become forms of the Buddha of Limitless Life. The red forms are as vast as mountains and small like dust. They fall into us like snow falling into a lake. They melt into our forehead and also into our entire body. They make us strong and give us a long life. Everywhere in space, mantras and meaning- ful texts appear. They radiate from all directions into our mouth and throat. Our speech and every expression becomes wisdom. Now from all directions, ruby dorjes stream into our heart centre. They melt into the sun and moon and give us courage and intuition, joy and compassion the blessing from the truth of space. We receive the blessings individually or at the same time as we wish. We repeat the long mantra: om namo bhagawate / aparimita ayur jnana subini tsi ta tendzo randzaya / tatagataya / arhate / samyak sam buddhaya / teyata / om punye punye maha punye / aparimita punye / aparimita punye jnana sam bharo pa tsi te / om sarwa samskara pari shuddha dharma te gagana / samutgate / sobhawa bishuddhe maha na ya pari ware soha // (Repeat at least 5 times) Then we repeat the short mantra. The mantra ring continues to turn in our heart centre. The rays of light now have hooks at their ends. They stream into all realms and directions. From the middle of the tropical forests to the depths of the oceans, from the centres of the mountains to far away worlds, the rays of light draw into us all missing enzymes, vitamins, minerals and everything that is nourishing. They fow into our bodies, especially into the parts where we have weaknesses or think we have them, and dissolves them. om amarani dzi wanta ye soha (Please repeat at least one round, 108 times) View and Dedication Our bodies are now tools to give others pro- tection, love and everything necessary. We re- main in this experience of health, power and strength and wish all beings the same. Meditation on the Buddha of Limitless Life 2014 DIAMOND WAY BUDDHISM FOUNDATION, Darmstadt www.buddhismus-stiftung.de published at the occasion of the 3 days meditation on The Buddha of Limitless Life in Karma Guen, Spain, June 2014 Wir spren, wie der formlose Luftstrom un- seres Atems an der Nasenspitze kommt und geht und lassen Gedanken und Gerusche vor- beiziehen, ohne sie zu beurteilen.
