Utopianism
Utopianism is probably a necessary social device

Pow Wow
This morning I went to Politecnico, where they
have a class in game design (very curious and
fascinating, indeed).
The course had Spartaco Albertarelli as a special
guest. He is one of the finest game designer
around. A very nice presentation with a lot of
interesting thoughts, ideas, things to ponder
about.
He designed more than 130 games (here above one
of the nicest), and knows an enormous amount of
interesting things.

Makies
This is very nice (thanks to Marcia Caines for the
link):
London-based toy and games company MakieLab
has rolled out the alpha version of their Makies,
customizable web-created 3D-printed action dolls.
They are 10 high dolls that come complete with
poseability, cute clothes, and
removeable/changeable eyes & hair. While not
interactive yet, the head of the dolls is designed
to fit a Lilypad Arduino (or similar). In this open
alpha period, dolls can currently be created and
ordered at the Makies website and future versions
will be available soon.

As more of us can afford publishing tools, which
were historically only available to publishing
houses, we have increasingly adopted them to
share our stories and thoughts online.
The invention of the printing press in the mid-
1400s cheapened and quickened the arduous
process of writing texts by hand.
The cheaper the publishing, the cheaper the
books, making information more accessible and

creating an economic environment where more
people could become publishers; all this in turn
creates an increasingly diverse, cheap, and
accessible flow of information to an increasingly
wide audience.
Before the printing press, books were rare and
expensive; few possessed them and few could read
them. The internet has expanded what the
printing press started to an unprecedented
degree.

Researching Online Education
Very interesting research made by Union Square
Stefanos facebook timeline 40/52 2012
Venture people (thanks to Piero Rivizzigno for the
link).
...is an overview of online education. The first
section looks at whether web software can change
students' outcomes and what sort of pedagogy
could be appropriate for the internet. The second
section overviews the higher education market in
the United States. The third section includes
information on efforts by American schools to link
test scores and teacher performance.
The work led us to a few hypotheses:
We're skeptical a business model that charges for
content will work at scale and in the long run.
We expect education platforms that offer vertical
content and/or specific education experiences will
be more successful than horizontal platforms,
though we think credentials and careers offer two
opportunities for horizontal aggregation.
Without credentialing or careers, online education
seems aspirational and removed from the day-to-
day of many people.

Oegstgeest, Netherlands
Corpus
The "Corpus" building is seen in Oegstgeest, 35
kilometers (21 miles) southeast of Amsterdam,
Netherlands.
"Corpus," a new attraction in the Netherlands, are
hoping that a combination amusement park and
health education museum will encourage kids to
take better care of their own bodies.
The building incorporates a 35-meter (115-foot)
high seated human figure into its structure. All the
walls and halls are modeled with fiberglass to
resemble the inside of a giant human body, giving
visitors the sensation of being shrunk down to a
tiny scale.

counterfeit clothes and accessories, the question
"Is there fake in afterlife?" considerably expands
the thinking on fake into a territory of intense
debate for believers and atheists alike.
Unwrapping unexpected bonds between the
profane universe of fake - understood as an
extended metaphor of the real - and the spiritual,
the question works as a starting point in raising yet
more questions that would trigger answers,
personal beliefs or narratives.
The work also hints at Paul Valery's quote: "That
which resembles nothing does not exist" by
confronting the audience in big size letters cut out
of hypnotic and colorful lenticular 3D prints of
popular iconography of heaven / paradise /
perfection / afterlife, symbols of wisdom and
central figures in various cultures and religions.
Part of the long-term conversation piece 1000
questions on fashion. With this series, Apparatus
22 aims to address 1000 questions that would shift
the focus of conversation on fashion from style,
trends and "it" items towards issues that could
ignite a debate on the lasting impact of this
industry on many levels: creativity, authorship and
copyright, engagement in public space, economy,
labor, politics, ecology etc.
