Rationale

You will show your understanding of important people and events that occurred in Ancient Egypt
by creating a cartoon using the program Comic Life.
Task
Your Comic Life should include the following:
1. IMAGES: collect various pictures of your topic - be sure they are of good quality and are relevant
2. HISTORICAL CONTENT: each panel should contain relevant information about the topic - consider the
5Ws (who, what, when, where, why) and H (how)
3. DIALOGUE OR COMMENTARY: make sure that the dialogue or commentary (speech bubbles in the
comic) make reference to key terms, people or dates.

Project Timeline
*Create an Ancient Egypt folder on your H drive. Save all your photos, your research, and
your Comic Life comic in this folder. Save these directions in the folder.
1. Choose your topic from the list.
2. Open Microsoft Office Word. Type your name at the top. Type the name of your Ancient Egypt topic below it.
3. Click File Save As go to your H drive and save this in your Ancient Egypt folder.
SHOW YOUR ANCIENT EGYPT FOLDER TO MRS. MCD. IT SHOULD CONTAIN TWO THINGS YOUR WORD DOCUMENT
AND THESE DIRECTIONS. DO THIS BEFORE PROCEEDING TO STEP 4.
4. Research your topic and record your information in your Word document. Do not use Google; use this custom Ancient
Egypt search engine:
Go to the BJHS website, click on media center on the right side, then click on Ancient Egypt under Research Websites.
Type your search term(s) in the window.
When you have finished your research, EMAIL YOUR MICROSOFT WORD DOCUMENT TO MRS. COOK. AFTER CHECKING
YOUR RESEARCH, SHE WILL GIVE YOU PERMISSION TO GO TO STEP 5.
5. Go through your research notes and decide what photos or images would work best with your information. Search
for these images online and save them to your Ancient Egypt folder on your H Drive.
6. Now you are ready to start your Comic Life comic about your topic. Save the comic as you work on it to your Ancient
Egypt folder. Mrs. McD will check your work occasionally for spelling and content.
7. When you think you have finished your comic, show it to Mrs. McD. She will approve your final comic and you can
share it with Mrs. Cook and your classmates.
