Hello! My name is Michelle. I am 36 years old,

single and I work in a Bank in New York City
in the finance department. I love working
there because it is very interesting and the
people I work with are very nice. I was born
in Philadelphia but moved to New York 6
years ago. I dont regret it at all. New York is
a fascinating city. There is so much to do here:
Museums, theatres, night clubs, stores,
restaurants, etc.
Hola! Mi nombre es Michelle. Tengo 36 aos,
soy soltera y trabajo en un banco en la ciudad de
Nueva York en el departamento de finanzas.
Amo trabajar all porque es muy interesante y la
gente con la que trabajo es muy amable. Yo nac
en Philadelphia pero me mud a Nueva York
hace 6 aos. No me arrepiento de esto. Hay
mucho que hacer aqu: museos, teatros,
discotecas, tiendas, restaurantes, etc.
After work I love eating at different
restaurants. There are a variety of restaurants
here because people from all over the world
come to live and work in New York City. My
favorite food is Korean. They make the best
barbeque pork in the world. The food is
cooked right in front of you on a stove and
there are a variety of vegetarian side dishes
that come with it. That makes it really healthy.
I also enjoy eating Italian, Indian and Chinese
food.
Despus de trabajar, me gusta comer en
diferentes restaurantes. Hay una gran variedad
aqu porque gente de todo el mundo viene a vivir
y a trabajar a la ciudad de Nueva York. Mi
comida favorita es la coreana. Ellos hacen el
mejor cerdo asado del mundo. La comida la
hacen en una estufa en frente de ti y hay una gran
variedad de platos vegetarianos que la
acompaan. Esto la hace muy saludable. Tambin
disfruto comer comida italiana, hind y china.
On Friday nights and on the weekends I like to
go to the theatre. I love watching plays. When
I was little I wanted to be an actress, but most
actors are poor and I like having money. On
the weekend I cook or go to restaurants with
friends. I am also taking a class in French
which I enjoy very much. I think it is
important to keep learning new things as long
as you can. I have taken classes in cooking,
ballroom dancing and swimming since I
moved to New York. If there is anything you
want to learn, there is a place in New York
where you can learn it.
Los viernes por la noche y los fines de semana,
me gusta ir al teatro. Amo ver obras de teatro.
Cuando era nia quera ser actriz, pero la mayora
de los actores son pobres y a m me gusta tener
dinero. El fin de semana yo cocino o voy a
restaurantes con amigos. Tambin estoy tomando
clases de francs que disfruto mucho. Yo pienso
que es importante seguir aprendiendo cosas
nuevas mientras que se pueda. Yo he tomado
clases de cocina, de baile de saln y de natacin
desde que me mud a Nueva York. Si hay algo
que usted desea aprender, hay un lugar en Nueva
York donde lo puede aprender.

Verbo To be - 'Ser' y 'Estar'
El verbo to be se puede traducir como ser o como estar en espaol. El Ingls
slo tiene un verbo para los dos significados.
Nota: La forma infinitiva de los verbos en ingls siempre empieza con to.
La conjugacin del verbo to be en el presente es la siguiente:
To Be
I am yo soy/estoy
You are t eres/ests, usted es/est
He/she is l es/est, ella es/est
It is eso es/est
We are nosotros/as somos/estamos
You are ustedes son/estn, vosotros/as sois/estis
They are ellos/as son/estn
Ejemplos:
I am a student Soy estudiante

He is happy l est contento
She is Colombian Ella es colombiana
We are tired Nosotros estamos cansados
You are from the United States Ustedes son de los Estados Unidos
They are in Paris Ellos estn en Pars
Algo ms sencillo del ingls, es que los adjetivos no cambian de forma con el
gnero; es decir, no cambian si los nombres o sustantivos son masculinos o son
femeninos. Slo tienen una forma. Por ejemplo:
He is Mexican l es mexicano
She is Mexican Ella es Mexicana
He is happy l esta contento
She is happy Ella esta contenta



La negacin en ingls
La forma negativa de una frase se forma con la palabra not y exceptuando el
verbo am se puede contractar agregando la partcula nt como se indica a
continuacin:
He is not here l no estn aqu.
They are not well - Ellos no estn bien.
We are not Americans Nosotros no somos americanos.
She is not in Bogot Ella no est en Bogot.
He isnt a student l no es un estudiante.
They arent in home ellos no estn en casa.
It isnt my notebook ese no es mi cuaderno.
She isnt my girfriend ella no es mi novia.
Ejercicios.
Coloque el verbo correspondiente al pronombre y hgalo negativamente si al inicio
de la frase aparece una N o positivamente si al inicio de la frase aparece una
P.

2- N- We () together. Nosotros no estamos juntos.
3- N- Peter () blond. Peter no es rubio.
4- P- That man () a fireman. Aquel hombre es un bombero.
