Choose attack: During this phase every player chooses which attack they want their monster to use, during the battle-round. 4. Landing attack: During this phase the game determines if the monster manages to land the attacks they choose to use. If the effect of the attack does not say otherwise, The following the steps are conclude if the monster manages to land there attack: o Rock-paper-scissors: Every attack belongs to 1 of 3 attack types: Power attack, Defense attack or Cunning attack. These 3 types have the same feature as rock- paper-scissors; Power attacks crush Cunning attacks, Cunning attacks outwit Defense attacks, and Defense attacks protect against Power attacks. Both the player and the opponents attack are compared to each other to determine who of them manages to land their attack. Only one player may land there attack if the attack does not say otherwise. If a player plays an attack type that counters the opponents attack type, than they have managed to land the attack. If the player plays an attack type that is countered by the opponents attack type, than the player has failed to land the attack. If the player plays the same attack type as the opponent, than a roll needs to be done to see which monster manages to land there attack. Both monsters have 50% chance of landing there attack, but a monster receives better chances of landing there attack if they are better in a statistical field than the opponent monster. The following statistical fields affect the chance of landing the attack: 1. Species level: If players monster has higher Species level than the opponent monster, players monster receives +5% chance of landing there attack, and the opponent receives -5%. 2. Effect: During this phase the attack effects are calculated, if they pass the Landing attack phase. o Effect calculation: When calculating the effect 2 variables are taken in mind, the monsters attack effect and the ability effect. 6. Battle-round ends: During this phase the battle-round ends. If one of the monsters has 0 stamina left, than the battle continues to the Battle end phase. If both monster still have stamina left, than a new Battle-round starts. 7. Battle end: This is where the battle ends. During this phase the summary screen of the battle is displayed and one of the monsters is nominated as winner of the battle.
Battle strategy The whole game battle system is built to be a game of wits. By predicting what attack the opposite player is going to play, the player is able to play an attack that counters there move. This is done by keeping in mind: What attack type will the opponent play on coming turn? Will the opponent value speed over the strength when they choose attack? Which species is the opponent playing and what statistics and abilities do they have? Will the opponent play a slow defensive strategy or a quick offensive strategy? What attacks may the opponent have available to use? Which attacks have the opponent already used? The player can decide from these questions how they should advance during battle.
