INTRODUCTION
1.1 GENERAL
This report is a short description of my 12 weeks industrial training carried out as
compulsory component of the BSc. Civil Engineering. The industrial training was
carried out within the organization ang !aron " #oh Sdn Bhd. The scopes of work
during my industrial training are including structure design$ drainage design$ drafting
works and etc.

TAS1 SPECI<ICATION SUMMAR2
+.1 TAS1 DESCRIPTION
,uring my 12 weeks training in the company$ my supervisor &r. Simon #oh assigned
me various types of tasks to ensure that - was e<posed to real working environment.
These e<posures will prepare me with necessary skills for futureCs undertaking. Below
listed are the scopes of works that - have learned during my industrial training$
+.1.1 <a(ilia' 4it! T!e A'!itet$'al D'a&ing
8n the first day of my work$ my supervisor assigned me to handle in the design work
of a .ungalow house. The .ungalow house is design in Bali style. &y supervisor asked
me to get familiar with the architectural drawing .y studying it. The architectural plans
are include the ground floor key plan$ roof plan$ section plan and etc. This is to ensure
that we can really understand the drawing so that it is easier to start the design work.
Some tips are given such as we can use the color pencil to color out the region on the
key plan that has different level to make the design work easier.
+.1.2 Lea'n T# Design St'$t$'es
2fter studying the key plan and make sure understanding the drawing$ design work
then can .e started. The software that is used for the design in the company is Esteem.
-n design work$ we have to know where the loading is and which should .e the
support. 3roperties of column$ .eam$ sla. should .e determined from the types and
usage of structures. Besides using computer to input the structure detail$ we have to
design manually for some part of the structure$ e.g. loading of staircase.
+.1.+ Lea'n t# Han"le A P'#;et
-n this part$ - felt very grateful that - have the opportunity to handle a pro/ect myself. -n
the .eginning$ - am unfamiliar of how to start doing a pro/ect. But after the e<perience
of handling a pro/ect myself$ - can figure out what to do in order to complete a task.
4or e<ample$ for the first step in designing a structure$ we have to study the drawing
and the details. Then$ we can .egin to input the column$ .eam and etc. Every detail
canCt .e missed out. 2fter complete with the design$ we have to deal with our client and
also the architect whether it is satisfying them. 2fter this stage is done$ we can start
with the detailing of structure such as the key plan$ column schedule$ .eam details$ sla.
details and etc.
+.1.( In5#l5e In D'ainage Design
,uring week ?$ - have assisted my colleague in a detailing of a drainage pro/ect. 2fter
that$ my supervisor passed me an Erosion$ Sediment Control 3lan @ESC3A pro/ect.
This pro/ect is a new challenge for me. The o./ective of this pro/ect is to design
sediment .asin on a ;uarry land to control surface runoff in order to prevent sediment
to flow into the natural stream such as river$ pond and etc. during construction. This
pro/ect took me around + weeks to complete.
,uring week 1'$ - have received an ESC3 pro/ect again and this time it took less
guidance .y my colleague to complete the pro/ect.
+.1.= Lea'n T# Cal$late Ea't!&#'.
2t the same time during week 1'$ my training supervisor guided me to calculate the
earthwork volume of a cut slope. The method to calculate the earthwork volume is
drawing a =m < =m gridline on the topography and multiplying the average level of
the grid and area to find out the volume. This pro/ect takes me a.out 1 week to
complete
1%
+.1.? Atten" C#(7an8 Meeting
-n my company$ there will .e official company meeting which everyone has to attend
and sit inside the meeting room. The content of the meeting is to update and report
our /o. progress. This is the first time - attend a company meeting and - gain a good
e<perience from it.
+.1.% Atten" A <#'(al P'esentati#n
,uring week 2$ - have an opportunity to follow my colleague to the ,epartment of
-rrigation and ,rainage @Sa.ah StateA to have a presentation a.out proposal of an
access causeway.

+.2 TAS1 PROBLEMS ENCOUNTER AND SOLVING APPROACH
Throughout all the industrial training$ there are a lot of ups and downs which -
met during my progress of works. 4irst$ - will talk a.out the pro.lem that - met in my
office. 2t the .eginning of my industrial training$ - am unfamiliar with the
environment around and also my colleague. 2nd in order to solve this pro.lem$ -
realized - should ask everything that - am not understand a.out$ include the pro.lems
that e<ist during my work. 2fter time goes$ - started to get use to the working
environment and starts to social with my colleague. The key point to solve this
pro.lem is we have to keep asking what we donCt understand or what we want to
know.
Besides that$ sometimes there will .e some discrepancies or wrong on the
drawing of pro/ects that is made .y the architect. e have to study properly .efore
start doing the work and we should .e more confident on what we see. 8nce error is
detected in the drawing$ we can ask suggestion from our colleague or discuss with
them. 8nce the mistake is confirm$ we can send a ;uery list to the architect and seek
further information from them.
9e<t$ this industrial training has changed the life style that - am not used to.
-nstead of waking up at ten and going to a few classes a day in my university$ - am
sitting at a desk from )a.m. to =p.m. The hours and the new living situation clearly
make socializing more difficult than .efore. -t is ;uite suffering at the .eginning and
in order to solve this pro.lem$ - have scheduled some activities such as e<ercise$
entertainment program with my family mem.ers after work to .alance my daily life.

CHAPTER IV
CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
-.1 C#nl$si#n
-n conclusion$ there were many things that - have e<perienced and learned during
these 12 weeks of my -ndustrial Training at ang !aron " #oh Sdn. Bhd. The
whole training period was very interesting$ instructive and challenging. Through this
training - was a.le to gain new insights and more comprehensive understand a.out
the real working situation and practice. The 12 weeks training also has provided me
the opportunities to develop and improve my soft and functional skills. 2ll of this
valua.le e<perience and knowledge that - have gained were not only ac;uired
through the direct involvement in task given .ut also through other aspect of the
training such as work o.servation$ communication .etween colleagues$ superior$ and
others third party such as architects and clients related to the company. 4rom what -
have undergone$ - am hundred percent agree that the industrial training program have
achieve its entire primary o./ective. -tCs also the .est ways to prepare student in
facing the real working life. 2s a result of the program now - am more confident to
enter the employment world and .uild my future career.
-.% Re#((en"ati#n
- recommend that my training company to create more site visit program. -
understand the person responsi.le to supervise the practical student is already .usy
with their work .urden. !owever - still hope that they can spend small portion of
their time to plan more different variety learning for the practical student to gain
more other e<tra knowledge.
-n overall - am ;uite satisfied with my school effort in making the program
perform smooth and successfully. But - still recommend lecturer that in charge of
university industrial training could state the documentation of the industrial training
in detail so to make everything clear.
