aspect of stereotyping is looking back at what has been said about the many different stereotyping
identity categories there are. /hen reali1ing how to o(ercome your own ideas on stereotyping of
others. 0s there any science to what is stereotyped of race or religion or gender. 0 am sure there has
been research done in the past. 'ow much truth to what was researched depends on who did the
research and the opinion of the researcher.

others who think their race is better. 0f for instance a white person may think that a black person is a
drug dealer just because that is what that white person thinks all black people do is sell drugs. /he

funny thing about that is that if a dealer is black, he is not racist. 'e sells to all races because that is
his job.

Prejudice means that a person or persons ha(e a negati(e attitude toward an entire category of people,
such as racial, ethnicity, religion, gender, disability or sexual orientation. /here are 6 theories of prejudice.
/here is scapegoating 7blaming others for their own problems,8 authoritarian 7raising a child to dislike
others because they are different,8 exploitation 7hiring of a minority person at a lower pay scale,8 and
normati(e 7peer and social influences that are encouraged to dislike someone who is different.8 "xamples
of prejudice are when a construction company will hire a *exican crew to build a house, because the
construction company knows that the crew will work for the lowest pay.
Stereotyping is looking at entire group of people and basing the belief that if one is bad, they all are bad.
$n example of stereotyping is when World War 5 occurred. When )apan bombed Pearl 'arbor, 'awaii,
the 2nited States decided that if anyone in the country was )apanese they were to put into 9concentration
communities.: /his type of stereotyping was based on fear.
What is the relationship between stereotyping and prejudice. /he relationship between stereotyping
and prejudice is mainly based on racism and ethnicity of others. &oth ideas can be bred into someone
from parents to cultural ways of life.
What can be done to pre(ent prejudice from occurring. /here are many ways to reduce prejudice.
;ne way to reduce prejudice is by education. "ducating people to get along with others should start
in the primary schools and continue e(en in workplaces. *ass media plays a big role in profiling of
prejudice. 0f mass media changed slowly, not to shock anyone, mass media could make a great
potential resource for changing our ideas on the many different people there is. ;ther ways to pre(ent
prejudice is to learn to take a stand for who you are. "(en if you are different from a group, you ha(e
