shoot on the day, then I will plan to move the photo-shoot to the next day, or use my backup
models.

when I have the props or change the prop that I planned to have.

LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS
Copyrights, Designs and Patents Act 1988
This act gives the creators of dramatic, literary, artistic and musical works the right to control the
way their material may be used. Their rights cover broadcasting and public performance, adapting,
copying, renting, issuing and lending copies to the public. The creator will also have the right to be
identified as the author and to object to distortions of his work.
With my work, I will make sure I do not break the law by using any material from any other form of
media whether it is titles or the photographs itself. The work that I will produce will be 100% my
own material.
Discrimination Law
The unlawful discrimination based on the grounds of:
Age
Gender
Sexuality
Ethnicity
Pregnancy
Disability

With my work, I will make sure I do not break this law by using any discriminatory features that
people may find offensive in my work, whether it is in my photographs or any text.

Obscene Publications Act 1959
An act to amend the law relating to the publication of obscene matter, to provide for the protection
of literature, and to strengthen the law concerning pornography.
This act prevents the production that could be deemed offensive or obscene such as
Pornography
Child Abuse

This act will apply to my work if it involves any imagery that can be considered illegal and/ or
offensive, including pornography and child abuse. I will make sure that any content I produce will
not include any of these features. The poses that my models make are not illegal, however any
action that may be included from the aspects listed above, then it can be deemed as illegal.

Defamation Act 2013

This act ensures that a fair balance is struck between the protection of reputation and the right to
freedom of expression. It covers two separate forms of defamation, known as slander which is
verbally spoken, and libel, which can be seen in text whether it is in a newspaper, magazine, on TV
or even on social networking sites like Twitter. It requires claimants to show that they have suffered
serious harm before suing for defamation, and provides increased protection to operators of
websites that host user-generated content, providing they comply with the procedure to enable the
complaint to resolve disputes directly with the author of the material concerned. New statutory
defences of truth and honest opinion were introduced, replacing the common law defences of
justification.

This applies to my work through libel, as if I produce content is considered defamation towards a
person or company, I can be sued. I will make sure that my work will not contain any libel
defamation.

Trespassing (Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994)
This act prevents people from trespassing on private land without the owners permission. If a
person commits the offence of aggravated trespass on land and in relation to lawful activity which
persons are about to engage in, it will be classed as breaking the law.

Some of these acts include:
- Intimidating persons as to deter them from engaging in that activity
- Obstructing that activity
- Disrupting that activity
This does not apply to my work, as I am taking photographs on public land, so there is no need for
me to gain permission if I ended up taking photos on private land.
ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS
Ethical issues involve material that could be deemed offensive or immoral. This includes features
such as:
- Age
- Gender
- Sexuality
- Ethnicity/ Race
In my case, I am producing 4 front covers for a magazine aimed at teenage lifestyle, so I will make
sure that I will not produce any content that may be deemed offensive or immoral. This applies to
the photographs and the cover lines, as I am trying to represent teenagers through these. The poses
that the models make are a representation of teenagers, but are challenging the stereotypes that
they are put to, so my content will not have anything that conforms to these stereotypes.
