Introduction
First aid is the provision of initial care for an illness or injury. It is usually performed by
non-experts (or sometimes by an expert in case of an emergency), but trained personnel to a sick
or injured person until definitive medical treatment can be accessed. Certain self-limiting illnesses
or minor injuries may not require further medical care past the first aid intervention. It generally
consists of a series of simple and in some cases, potentially life-saving techniques that an
individual can be trained to perform with minimal equipment.
II. Topic: BASIC FIRST AID FOR COMMON INJURIES AND CONDITIONS

Activity 1. Explain First Aid, when to use and how to use it.

Activity 4. Demonstrate First Aid Technique to a given situation
Materials: First Aid Kit (improvise if possible), role playing
Analysis: If you are a Boy Scout, what is the use of your neckerchief?
What First Aid will you use if there is a fractured bone?
If sprain occurs, what is the best thing to do?
When someone is drowned, what is the immediate thing to do?
Do we use a CPR immediately in a drowned victim?

Activity 5. Pupils will do First Aid to a given situation
Materials: First Aid Kit (improvise if possible), role playing
Analysis: Did the pupils do the activity properly
Did they manage to perform the correct First Aid technique to the situation?
Did they use the correct material in performing the First Aid?
What are the improvisation they made when a material is not available?
Did they perform a CPR properly?

III. Abstraction/Generalization
Learning basic first aid techniques can help you cope with an emergency. You may be able
to keep a person breathing, reduce their pain or minimize the consequences of injury or sudden
illness until an ambulance arrives. This could mean the difference between life and death for
them.
It is a good idea to take a first aid course so that you can recognize an emergency and give
basic first aid until professional help arrives.
