1. Why one should do Piping Engineering Course?


Piping Engineering is very vast field. But unfortunately no engineering
degree/diploma courses cover piping engineering syllabus thoroughly. To
become a piping engineer one has to gain additional knowledge of piping
codes & standards, piping materials, pipe routing & layout and pipe stress
analysis.
2. Where are the opportunities?
All EPC companies like L&T, Praj, Uhde, MotMac, Petrofac, Bechtel,
Bentlay, Lurgi, Toyo, Rolta, Punjloyd, etc require piping engineers in bulk
amount. Since majority of them are involved in oil and gas, petroleum and
petrochemical projects, requirement of piping engineers is huge. Many small
design firms who are handling part of projects of above mentioned EPCs also
require Piping Engineers.
There are lots of opportunities in Gulf countries due to large number of Oil &
Gas projects.
3. What is the eligibility criteria for the course?
Diploma/Degree in mechanical, chemical, production, petrochemical,
petroleum, industrial, instrumentation, civil branch
4. What is the batch schedule?
Full-time batches - 3 months First Thursday of January, April, July & October
Sunday batch - 10 months - First Sunday of January & July
Subject to minimum of 10 candidates
5. Course Intake
Maximum: 40 , Minimum : 10
6. What are documents needed for course admission?
Qualification proof, ID Proof, One Passport Size Photograph
7. Whether Placement Assistance is provided?
Yes. Placement assistance is provided. Generally we call companies when
course is about to over. One full year assistance is provided.
8. What is the salary range?
It is from Rs. 15,000/- pm to 30,000/- pm depending on the type of company
9. Whether girls can afford piping job?
Majority of jobs are office jobs so girls can always afford piping jobs.
10. What is the criteria for placement?
Few companies dont keep any criteria based on marks. They only need
candidate with piping course. Few companies ask for diploma/degree last year
first class holders with piping course. Companies like L&T ask for first class
from 10
th
standard. Rest go for average first glass in the degree/diploma.
11. How piping engineering field is different compare to other core jobs?
Considering the past trend, compare to other core jobs, growth in the piping
field is fast in terms of salary and position.
12. Whether institute is offering accommodation facility?
Institute do not offer accommodation facility for short term courses. There are
lot of private hostels nearby to VIT. We will assist you to get accommodation
if you come two days prior the start of course.
13. What is the normal range of living and food expenses during course?
Normal range is Rs. 5000/- per month for living + food
14. How is the Pune Climate- any special luggage to carry?
There are no extremities in the climate. It is overall good for health and living.
You may carry sweater in winter and rainy season. One umbrella is sufficient
in rainy season.
15. Whether there is any dress code in the institute?
No dress code as such. Any formal dress is okay.
16. What candidate has to carry along with him/her while he/she leaves the home
for this course?
Carry Notebook, scientific calculator, pen, pencil, eraser, etc.
17. Whether study material is provided?
Full study material is provided in the first week itself.
18. Whether stationery is provided?
Stationery materials needed for drawing like A-3 sheets, Isometric sheets, etc
are provided by institute only.
19. What fee includes?
Fees include, course fee + study materials charges + exam fees + service taxes
& cess
20. What softwares are taught? Whether they are licensed versions?
AutoCAD and CAESAR-II. They are commercial full versions.
21. Any industrial exposure/visit included/needed?
There is no need for any industrial visit as far as piping engineers job is
concerned. It may be arranged on request and expenses have to borne by all
interested candidates.
22. Whether fees can be paid in installments? How many installments are
available?
Yes. Fees can be paid in installments. Maximum of three installments are
allowed. Rs. 20,000/- registration fees. And remaining fees can be paid in a
months time from start of the course.
23. Who are the teachers?
All faculties are from industry. They have experience ranging from 5 years to
40 years in the piping field.
24. Whether to bring personal laptop?
There is no need to bring any personal laptop, etc. We have enough
computing facilitates here and available for all days.
25. Can I come back and practice on softwares after I leave the institute after the
course?
We dont mind giving you permission if you call us prior coming to campus.
26. Whether there is any difference between Piping Technology, Piping
Engineering and Piping Design & Engineering Course?
Only names are different. Course contents are same.
27. Is there any exam at the end?
There will be 100 marks exam at end of the course of three hours duration.
Based on the exam marks, attendance and overall performance in the course,
class is awarded at the end of the course. It would appear on the certificate.
28. How certificate is awarded?
You will get VIT certificate
