identifying, and creating different types of poems

Fourth Grade
Students will look at examples of poems and identify
the differences and types of poems they are

They will create their own and evaluate a partners
poetry

After going through the process of reviewing,
identifying, and creating their own poem, they will
fully understand the different kinds of poems
Introduction
Each student will need their own computer or laptop.

I will walk them through the steps of creating a Facebook
account.

I will divide them into small groups and create groups on
Facebook for them to utilize

I will show them how to post, comment, and like items on
Facebook
Technology Use

#4-Post rough draft

#5-Evaluate partners poem and comment

#6-Make changes to own poem and post final draft
Objectives
Students will need to recall previous information
about poetry discussed in class

EX:
Alliteration PoemChoose one consonant and use as
many words as you can, beginning with that consonant
Preparing the Student
Remember: Students will recall different rules and types of
poems previously discussed

Understand: They will explain components of poems I
have provided and identify what characteristics define that
poem. They will post helpful hints on Facebook group
(defining each type of poem)

Apply: They will begin first draft and post on Facebook
Blooms Taxonomy
Analyze: They will compare their own poem to the
resources each group posted and see if their poem
matches these rules EX: Haiku 5,7,5 Rule

Evaluate: They will look at partners poem and comment
on changes they think necessary. They will also post one
positive comment.

Create: They will take instructor and partner feedback to
make changes and post a final poem on Facebook group

They would then break down into groups of 4 to discuss
different types of poems.

The next few days I would give them work time on their
poem and set a date for the rough draft to be posted.

Peers would comment on poems and so would the
instructor

Finally, they will make final changes and post final draft
