CRITERIA POOR FAIR GOOD JUSTIFICATION

Duration of illness During our shift the

patient had already
been suffering from
dengue hemorrhagic
fever for already a
week including the
days prior to admission.
Herewith, the
laboratory results
specifically his platelet
was still low which
indicates that he will be
confined for a few
more days until he will
recover.
Onset of illness The signs and
symptoms of the patient
were evident to be
diagnosed of dengue
hemorrhagic fever such
as cough, watery renal
discharges, fever of
37.9oC, and muscular
rashes. And so, with
this further
examinations were
conducted during
hospitalization.
Precipitating Factors As the group has
interviewed the
grandmother of the
patient, it was revealed
that the child acquired
dengue hemorrhagic
fever due to the
environment he is in. In
DHF there is only one
precipitating factor
which is the vector.
Since the family
already knew the
suitable place of growth
for this vector then it
would be easy for them
to prevent such event to
repeat again.
Compliance to treatment During our shift
regimen Cristian was not
difficult to handle but
there are some
instances that the
family find it hard to
feed Cristian since he
has lost his appetite. On
the other hand, he has
already the capacity to
understand things such
as taking of medicines
on time, so the group
graded him fair.
Age We all know that
dengue hemorrhagic
fever is common in
children ages below 15
years old and so with
this we had come up
with a rating of poor
since the client is very
much prone with this
illness.
Environment Upon our interview we
came to know that he is
studying at DRANHS
and it was said that
there was a renovation
going on just next to
their classroom.
Nowadays, rainy
season is common and
because of this drums
were also provided to
store the dripping of the
rain wherein later on it
caused mosquitoes to
settle in the area.
Family Support Family support ranked
good since the relatives
were present to
accompany the patient
and they had also
provide his needs
physically, mentally
and emotionally most
especially in combating
against his illness.

Rating Scale:
Poor: 1.0 – 1.6
Fair: 1.7 – 2.3
Good: 2.4 – 3
The proponents come up with the rating of 2.86 which is
interpreted as good. The factors that were rated as poor were duration
of illness and the age since the condition of the patient was not yet
stable and considering the age of the patient is most likely to have a
dengue hemorrhagic fever wherein Cristian’s age was very much prone
with this illness. While the criterion that was rated as fair was only the
compliance of treatment regimen and the rest were categorized as
good because signs and symptoms of dengue, causative factors and
support of the family were highly evident.
