Snyder makes appointments, reappointments to Board of Nursing

LANSING, Mich. Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Jessica Ann Tyson, of
Kentwood, and the reappointments of Lars Egede-Nissen, of Okemos, Reginald Armstrong, of
Detroit, and Kris Tobbe, of Brighton, to the Michigan Board of Nursing.
Housed within the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, the 23-member board
establishes qualifications for nurse licensure, approves standards for nurse education programs and
takes disciplinary action against licensees when the health, safety and welfare of the public are
adversely affected.
The health of all Michiganders will always be a priority. I thank these talented appointees for serving
on this board, Snyder said.
Tyson is the owner of Events by Jessica Ann, which she founded in 2003. She was named a 40
Under 40 Business Leader by the Grand Rapids Business Journal in both 2011 and 2012 and one of
the 50 Most Influential Women in West Michigan by the Grand Rapids Business Journal in 2012.
She will represent the general public and replace James Childress.
Egede-Nissen is retired from the Lansing and Ionia Area Hospice where he most recently was
executive director emeritus. He served at numerous hospices, including Hospice at the Texas
Medical Center and Hospice of the Chesapeake. He was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award
in 2013 from the Hospice and Palliative Care Association of Michigan. Egede-Nissen earned a
bachelors degree in government and international relations from Columbia University and a
masters in public administration from California State University. He will continue to represent the
general public.
Armstrong is program officer for the University of Michigan College of Engineering. He previously
was a director with General Motors and a consultant for Wayne County Community College District.
Armstrong earned a bachelors degree in secondary education and a masters degree in educational
administration from the University of Michigan. He will continue to represent the general public.
Tobbe is the computer information systems support for the Huron-Clinton Metropolitan Authority. He
previously was a partner in Conservative Conservations LLC, a real estate investment corporation.
He is a trustee for the Brighton District Library. Tobbe earned a bachelors degree in public
administration from Eastern Michigan University and a masters degree in management from Walsh
College. He will continue to represent the general public.
Members serve four-year terms expiring June 30, 2018. Their appointments are subject to the
advice and consent of the Senate.
