TermsandConditions:DetailEngineeringAssessmentforStructuralSafety

1. Deliverable:ReportandAsbuiltDrawinginlinewiththecodesandregulations.

2. ScopeofWork:Limitedtoevaluationonlynotcoversanyretrofittingworks.

A. Concrete&ReinforcementConfigurationTests:

I. Insitu 4/3 core cutting & testing from BUET lab by Universal testing machine (UTM) for determine
compressivestrengthofconcrete.Coregivestheactualcompressivestrengthofparticularconcrete,but
it is advisable to collect minimum number of core from existing building. At least 4 Nos of core (per
building) may be sufficient. UPV and Rebound Hammer will be used on the same spot of coring and
determinecompressivestrengthseparately.ThecalibratedresultsofcoretestandUPV&Hammershall
be used to determine a reliable value of concrete strength. Thus the compressive strength of concrete
forallkeyloadcaringstructuralmembersofthestructurewillbedeterminedbyUPV&Hammer.
II. Testofrebarfortensilestrength.
III. UsingtheabovementionedcorrelationfromcoretestandUPVwithHammertestregardingcompressive
strength, UPV and hammer will be used at least 15 spot (/building) to determine the compressive
strengthofkeystructuralElements.
IV. InSituScanningtestUsingFerroScan(ExistingRebardetection)atleast15nos.perbuilding.

B. SoilTest:
Soiltestatminimumfourlocations.

C. FoundationExplorations:
At least Three (If required more) Foundation (/Building) will be explored to verify its size with existing
designdrawings.

D. StructuralDesignforcheckexistingstructure:
I. Analysisofsubsoilinvestigationsreport.
II. Develop computer simulated Finite element model (With Etabs/ Sap) by using concrete compressive
strengthandrebartensiletestdata.
III. AnalysiswillbeperformedasperGuidelineofBNBC2006.
IV. Checkingofstructuralstabilityandsafety.
V. CheckingoflateralloadresistancecapacityoftheBuilding
VI. Designcheckforsoftstory&DynamicLoad(Forearthquake&Windload)
VII. CheckingofSpecialjointdetailforearthquakeorotherlateralload.
