Are you
eligible to
take the
QLTS?
Applicants who wish to take the assessments
must frst obtain a QLTS Certifcate of Eligibility
from the SRA.
The Certifcate of Eligibility simply confrms that you are
entitled to practise law in your home jurisdiction and
have no criminal record, disciplinary actions or other
issues related to your background. There is no internship
or experience requirement to complete. You only need to
be a Qualifed Lawyer in a Recognised Jurisdiction, and
satisfy the English language requirement.
A fee of 200 or 400 (depending if you are an
International Lawyer or EEA, intra-UK or Swiss lawyer),
is payable to the Law Society for processing the
application. The application form to apply for your
Certifcate of Eligibility, including guidance notes, can be
downloaded on our website.
You do not need to have a Certifcate of Eligibility to
begin your studies, and can obtain your certifcate while
preparing to sit the assessments.
www.QLTS.co.uk Tel. + 44 (0) 207 117 6077 | Email: info@qlts.co.uk 5
Recognised Jurisdictions
To be eligible to apply, you must be
a Qualifed Lawyer in a Recognised
Jurisdiction. A list of Recognised
Jurisdictions is published and updated
regularly on the SRA website.
English Language Requirement
Applicants for the QLTS will also be required
to show that they have achieved the
Common European Framework for Reference
(CEFR) Level C2 in English. This can be
demonstrated in several ways, for example
by passing an English language test with an
approved provider (such as the academic
module of IELTS), or having your degree
assessed by UK NARIC.
EU lawyers or candidates who hold a degree
from a university or college in a country
where all higher education takes place in
English are exempt from this requirement.
When you submit your application to the
SRA for a Certifcate of Eligibility, you will
be asked to provide details of your test
results or a copy of your academic degree
certifcate.
If you satisfy all the SRA requirements, you will
be issued a QLTS Certifcate of Eligibility, which
will be valid for fve years from the date of issue.

Taking the
Assessments
Why do you
need a QLTS
course provider?
What is the
QLTS School?
The assessment provider,
Kaplan QLTS, is not allowed to
provide preparation courses for
the QLTS assessments.
The scope of the material, however, is very
comprehensive and of a higher standard to
that which is expected from those lawyers
who followed the domestic route for
qualifcation in England. In addition, you are
allowed to attempt each of the three parts of
the QLTS only three times during the fve-year
validity of your Certifcate of Eligibility.
It is therefore extremely important that you
study for the assessments with a course
provider that understands your needs and
will provide you with the right guidance.
If you want to become an English solicitor,
a big factor in determining whether youll
pass your QLTS assessments is the course
provider itself. Without excellent teaching,
informative materials, a support network,
and experienced staff to guide you through,
passing will be more diffcult.
QLTS School is the premier provider of
training and consulting services for the
QLTS assessments
We aim to open up career opportunities for
professionals like you, so you can experience
new paths, develop your legal knowledge,
and enhance the services you offer your
clients.
QLTS School course offers a dedicated
approach to the QLTS assessments on
which we are exclusively focused, meaning
that candidates really beneft from an array of
advice and support that is always available.

The MCT
Course
Why do you need to take a course
for the MCT assessment?
Our MCT course is designed to
build a strong foundation in the legal
concepts essential for success on the
MCT assessment. Our Course features:
The MCT is a standardised test with no
specifc or pre-determined pass mark. The
pass mark is determined by a Standard
Setting Panel convened by the SRA, based
on several criteria, such as the results of other
examinees and the standards expected of a
newly qualifed solicitor. Therefore, you must
excel in your assessment and get a higher
score than others in order to pass.
Taking the QLTS Schools MCT course will
dramatically improve your prospects of
succeeding and will give you a signifcant
advantage over candidates who have not
been studying through a structured course.
I have recently passed the MCT and had
a great experience with QLTS School.
The books were very comprehensive and
adequately covered the topics of the
assessment. The on-going support I received
from the administrative staff was also
extremely helpful.
