TMO%s ob&ecti'e ( realis"
The o3/ective of this mod is to ma0e the pacific theater as immersive as possi3le2 offer an increased
level of challen+e2 and to ma0e the player 3ehave more realistically. TM# defines realism as
encoura+in+ the player to ma0e the same decisions2 and have the same fears that a real 112
su3marine captain -ould have.
Historical accuracy and realism in the traditional sense of the -ord 5 sometimes achieved 3y a3stract
means6 is adhered to as much as possi3le2 3ut some elements may 3e ta0en -ith creative license in
order to achieve the overall o3/ective. Tri++er Maru also leans more to-ard the MseasonedM su3marine
simulation fan2 and some elements may appear to 3e too dauntin+ at first for your roo0ie player.
A #recario)s balancin* act
K Of contentio)s Ri'et co)ntin*+ an artistic license

There are many misconceptions a3out TM# -hen it comes to realism. Some -ill cite the mod is 100N
historically accurate in every detail. #thers -ill cite it totally unrealistic2 and yet others -ill cite it as
eCistin+ solely for increased challen+e -ith impossi3le destroyers. TM#2 is all of the a3ove2 and none
of the a3ove.
Some aspects2 such as su3marine statistics2 3ehavior2 e4uipment2 and the li0e are interpreted in the

Realis" settin*s
The realism settin+s in TM# -ere derived from the 3elief that the eCternal camera +ives a-ay too
much information2 and yet2 eye candy is so hard to +ive up. The eCternal camera comes in t-o forms2
and is ar+ua3ly the 3i++est cheat in the +ame. The first form of the eCternal camera is the Dunit camE.
This camera allo-s you to vie- -hatever is visi3le to the player 3y any sensory means. The second
form of the eCternal camera is the Dfree camE -hich allo-s you to vie- the area around the outside of
your su3marine. 1hile most players may not realiHe it2 the use of these camera*s offer a situational
a-areness that no su3marine captain -ould ever have.
,es2 these camera*s are very difficult to +ive up. TM# encoura+es the player a-ay from these camera*s
3y a means compromise. .y default2 the unit camera is disa3led in TM#2 leavin+ only the free camera
