CS-3513

Program

Associate Degree in Information Technology Management

Credit Hours

Duration

16 Weeks / 32 sessions

Prerequisites

Introduction to Information Technology

Course Introduction:
This course introduces the architecture, structure, functions, components, and models of the
internet and other computer networks. This course will allow students to analyze protocol and
network operation and build small networks in a simulated environment.
Course Objectives:
Networking Fundamentals teaches the basic concepts and terminology of networking. It is
designed to prepare students for the Comp TIA Network+ Certification Exam. The text
covers media types and standards and how data is encoded and transmitted. Students are also
introduced to the terminology and basic concepts of each network operating system.
Learning Outcomes:
After studying this course you should be able to:
Understand the basic concepts and terminologies of networking.
Build small networks in a simulated environment.
Build simple LAN topologies by applying basic principles of cabling; performing
basic configurations of network devices, including routers and switches; and
implementing IP addressing schemes.
