Trane ZSM-11-1 is a human interface to be used in conjunction with the ZN523 Zone Controller. The ZSM-11-1 integrates a
convenient user interface with a complete function set. It offers user friendly comfort control through an LCD display and 3
control buttons.

Functions - Operation
Display icons



Temperature setpoint selection
Press the enter/validate key continuously for 1 second, then release it. If Icon is not blinking, press again the same
key for one second, then release, the icon is now blinking.
Within 5 seconds, use either the down or up key for adjusting a cooler or warmer setpoint.
The bar graph indicates the desired temperature setpoint:


To validate the choice, either press the enter/validate key or wait 2 seconds, until the icon is no longer blinking.

Fan speed adjustment
Press the enter/validate key continuously for 1 second, then release it. If icon is not blinking, press again the
same key for one second, then release, the icon is now blinking.

These are the available positions:






Timed override pushbutton / Controller status indication

Use key for switching from one mode to another.

If unoccupied the following icon appears:

- Push button once: Timed override activated, icon becomes and blinking.


- Push button again: timed override is canceled and the unit returns to unoccupied mode. Icon becomes

Note: After 120 minutes (typically) the controller reverts to unoccupied mode automatically. Should the user want to
extend the duration while already in timed override mode, he can press the push button for 5 seconds, and the timer
reverts to 120 minutes (typically).

Occupant call
By pressing the three push buttons simultaneously, for a duration of 5 seconds, a signal is sent
to the BMS (if any) for requesting help. This signal can be cleared only from the BMS after it has
been acknowledged. Whenever an occupant call is active the bell icon appears in the upper
left corner.

Mounting recommendations

Location:
- Select a location, near the controlled equipment to reduce wiring costs, and EMC interference risks. Max distance is 12 m
- Device MUST not be directly exposed to sunlight nor mounted near heat/cool source
- Device should typically be installed at 1.5m above floor for correct temperature measurement performance.
