Task:
You are required to submit an individual report of 3,000 10% words, which can be based on an
organization or idea of your own choice.
The strategic analysis must be related to a recognised aspect of business policy, strategic
management or the philosophical underpinning of a particular methodology within the public or
private sector strategic management domain.
If your analysis is of an organisation then do not submit a functional analysis; for example do not
submit a strategic marketing analysis or a strategic human resource analysis. You should be
applying the concepts and models from the topics that are within the module to your chosen
organisation.
The report must be written in a recognised style, i.e. table of contents, introduction, main
analysis, conclusions, recommendations, references and bibliography. You must apply the
Harvard system of referencing in your report.
Objectives
To analyse a business policy or strategic management topic, to carry out individual research or
evaluation of an organization.
2
Requirements
Meet the learning outcomes listed above, identify and critically analyse fundamental issues
related to strategic management. Undertake a study that shows clear evidence of synthesis and
evaluation.
There are a number of ways you might carry out this assignment: here are a few ideas:
ry to
predict the outcomes of practice. Use practice to reflect upon / modify theory;
the experience of practitioners? i.e. use a practical example /case / issue to reflect on
Porters model(s) and examine success and / or failure.
might? i.e. do an analysis of Microsofts performance in relation to declared (or
undeclared) strategy and the efficacy of his strategy.
i.e. suggest a way forward for the organization in light of their poor performance over
the last 5 years.
: My advice to British Petroleums Chief Executive Officer
in light of their environmental disaster in the Gulf of Mexico.
These are merely examples of approaches you might take; thinking up your own ideas
might be more productive and fun.

Your seminar tutor on the basis of the following general criteria will assess the paper:
- the quality of research and analysis undertaken and the use of initiative in
finding sources of information;
- the quality and clarity of the assignment and your ability to demonstrate
command over the subject area and the development of a case or argument;
- additional credit may be awarded to a student who tackles a difficult subject
well.

1. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Corporate strategy has been driven by different forces in the past, by production pressures,
personnel pressures, and more lately by information pressures. This decade as well as the next
shows clear signs of corporate strategy being driven by environmental pressures (Welford, 1995).
Major changes in corporate strategy are clearly visible due to the increased environmental
concerns of stakeholders and the belief that being `green' pays through cost reduction and
increased market entry. This chapter examines much of the relevant theoretical literature in this
field.

2. INTRODUCTION
Vinamilk Corporation, the leading producer of dairy products in Vietnam, has the large
distribution network to consumers. They generate a substantial majority of our revenues from
sales of our products in Vietnam comprising both dairy and non-dairy products with a combined
capacity of 570,406 tonnes per annum and export to countries such as Australia, Cambodia, Iraq,
the Philippines and the United States (Vinamilk website).
Vinamilk is on the Top 4 private businesses by revenue in Vietnam (Vietnam News). Vinamilk is
also considered a monopoly company of milk with dominating market share over 50 percent
(VietNam Holding Annual Report 2013).
Habitat is one of the top concerns of humanity. It is clear that the corporation strategies have
being influenced by environmental pressures recently (Welford, 1995). As a manufacturer,
Vinamilk always is aware that any production has an impact on the surrounding environment.
Besides setting the strategies related to environmental management, Vinamilk commits the
implementing the objectives with specific, practical and comprehensive actions (Vinamilk
Corporate social responsibility Policy).
In this report, we will carry out the environmental and energy management strategies of
Vinamilk. Indeed, the intention of this subject area is to classify the concepts and models
(Porters 5 forces, Value chain, ISO 14001, Competitive advantage and SWOT analysis) and
discuss about how they be applied into the past and current theories of environmental pressures
corporate strategic management. From which the analysis are used to evaluate the company
strategies and its contexts. At the end, I probably recommend my personal opinions to the
company perform better in some case.
