PRAYER

The devil doesn’t want us to have a good understanding of this. We need to press
in to grasp the importance of prayer. Without it, it seems impossible to make it into the
kingdom of heaven. Prayer is the very foundation of every spiritual life.

Matthew 26:41 “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed [is]
willing, but the flesh [is] weak.”
This is what we need to do to meet temptation and prevail, we need to take the time to lay
up for ourselves a good foundation for the day. Being in a watchful and aware state is
part of keeping from temptation. Prayer will make us strong. The devil is looking to
catch someone unaware. Lions will wait days at a time to find an unsuspecting prey. By
being in a watchful state we can avoid the devil. On a ship they have something called a
crow’s nest. It is a platform on the mast (?) where sailors look to see other ships in order
to avoid them. Some people are so deceived, they actually look for sin. We need not to
fulfill the lusts of our flesh. Where is temptation? Avoid it. Prayer will help us.

Luke 11:1 “And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he
ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his
disciples.”
This soul didn’t seem to know how, he did the right thing. If you find yourself blanking
out, seek Him. “The spirit makes intercession for us” endless flow of petitions and
supplications. Ask Elohiym to help.

Mark 11:22-26 “And Yeshua answering saith unto them, Have faith in Elohiym. For
verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and
be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those
things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I
say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive [them],
and ye shall have [them]. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against
any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye
do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.”
Two conditions for acceptable prayer. Fruitful and availing prayer takes faith. “Without
faith it is impossible to please Him.” We need to know our prayers will be answered.
Belief is a vehicle “According to your faith so be it unto you.” “He is a rewarder of them
that diligently seek Him.” We need to forgive. Elohiym won’t hear us if we are bearing
a grudge. He won’t forgive if we don’t. Are you entertaining strife, division? We need
Him to help us. If we are right with our brother or sister He will hear us.

Matthew 6:5-15 “And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites [are]: for
they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they
may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou
prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which
is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. But when ye
pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen [do]: for they think that they shall be heard
for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth
what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our
Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done
in earth, as [it is] in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For
thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. For if ye forgive men
their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men
their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
Our prayer and alms should be toward Elohiym, not to be seen of men. Please the Father
in secret. Begins with praise, which is fitting. Seeking Elohiym’s glory than
supplications. Breaking out of prayer moldColossians 1:9-11, Ephesians 1:16-23 Paul
had a lot of love for these souls. Drive behind Paul’s zeal was a love of Elohiym. He
gave himself to prayer for them.

James 5:13-18 “Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing
psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them
pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith
shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they
shall be forgiven him. Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another,
that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might
not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And
he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.”
If you feel afflicted, do your soul well by taking the burden to Elohiym. “Cast your care
upon Him for He careth for you.” If we are afflicted, let us pray. Both the offender and
offended should pray (Job 42:10). Pray for your neighbour and be healed.

1 Kings 18:41-46 “And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for [there is] a
sound of abundance of rain. So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to
the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his
knees, And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and
looked, and said, [There is] nothing. And he said, Go again seven times. And it came to
pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea,
like a man's hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare [thy chariot], and get
thee down, that the rain stop thee not. And it came to pass in the mean while, that the
heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and
went to Jezreel. And the hand of YAHVEH was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and
ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.”
Power of faith; it avails and produces result: It lays the groundwork for some really good
things. Elijah speaking faith, even before any evidence. He was humble, bowed before
the Elohiym of Heaven. “I thank thee I am not as this publican…eyes toward heaven.”
There aren’t always immediate results, the importunity (continual coming) of Elijah. His
prayer prevailed. Press in even though things don’t seem to be coming to pass.

2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves,
and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from
heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
Land was sick, dry land, no fruit. Brought forth fruit after rain. Our hearts can be in a
drought, no fruit. Prayer can bring forth fruit. There are conditions—turn from our
wicked ways, seek His face.

Luke 18:1-8 “And he spake a parable unto them [to this end], that men ought always to
pray, and not to faint; Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not Elohiym,
neither regarded man: And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him,
saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. And he would not for a while: but afterward he
said within himself, Though I fear not Elohiym, nor regard man; Yet because this widow
troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. And the Lord
said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. And shall not Elohiym avenge his own elect,
which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will
avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on
the earth?”
Always pray, don’t faint. Patiently endure til request is fulfilled. Be strong in faith, give
glory to Elohiym. It is very comforting to know Elohiym can help us. Elohiym regards
man and is a just judge, even though he is this way, some give up on prayer. We have no
reason to doubt Elohiym and all the more reason to believe. Some of the Jews never fully
believed in Him, so they never made it to the promised land.

Acts 10:1-2 “There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the
band called the Italian [band], [A] devout [man], and one that feared Elohiym with all
his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to Elohiym alway.”
He acknowledged Elohiym in all his ways. Let us also fulfill this. There is a lot to
disrupt our walk, may we draw closer to Him every day. We can always go to Him in
faith, but He can’t help us if we don’t pray.

Colossians 1:9-11 “For this cause we also, since the day we heard [it], do not cease to
pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all
wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of Adonai unto all
pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of Elohiym;
Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and
longsuffering with joyfulness;”
Ephesians 1:16-23 “Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my
prayers; That the God of our Lord Yeshua ha Mashiyach, the Father of glory, may give
unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your
understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and
what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what [is] the exceeding
greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty
power, Which he wrought in Mashiyach, when he raised him from the dead, and set
[him] at his own right hand in the heavenly [places], Far above all principality, and
power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world,
but also in that which is to come: And hath put all [things] under his feet, and gave him
[to be] the head over all [things] to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that
filleth all in all.”
Job 42:10 “And YAHVEH turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends:
also YAHVEH gave Job twice as much as he had before.”
