Blue Ribbons Cant Close Amendment 2s Gaping Loopholes
Thinly-veiled shill group will try to whitewash pot amendments fatal flaws

Tallahassee, Fla. Advocates for Amendment 2 have now pretty much admitted that their amendment
is so screwed up that they have taken the unprecedented step of forming a shill group masquerading as
a Blue Ribbon Commission to delve into how Amendment 2, if approved by voters, would be
implemented. The ultimate irony? The group is chaired by the same lawyer who wrote their loophole-
ridden amendment in the first place.

Amendment 2 proponents must think Florida voters are either nave or not paying attention, said Sarah
Bascom, spokesperson for the Vote No on 2 Campaign. For weeks they have argued that Amendment
2 is sound and they have denied that it has the loopholes weve pointed out. Now they have taken thi s
extraordinary step of forming a special interest group to masquerade as some kind of official
commission that would allegedly fix Amendment 2s many flaws.

Bascom continued: Meanwhile constitutional experts continue to point out that if Amendment 2 is
approved by voters and added to the Florida Constitution, citizens, politicians and, yes, even cleverly-
hatched special interest groups will be powerless to fix its many loopholes, including one that would
allow pot to be sold and used by minors without parental knowledge or consent. And, one that,
according to the same lawyer who wrote the amendment and is now chairing the shill group will allow
people to get pot for throat pain, trouble sleeping and problems eating.

The bottom line is not even a sham commission, that was created solely as a PR stunt, can fill in these
massive loopholes, said Bascom. Stay tuned as the same people who wrote Amendment 2 try to pass
off their new shill group as watchdogs over it.

The Vote No on 2 Campaign is a grassroots campaign, bringing the truth about Amendment 2 to the
voters of Florida. Its coalition includes members of law enforcement, business leaders, constitutional
law attorneys, doctors and other medical professionals, parents and Floridians from all walks of life.
Amendment 2 is simply a guise to legalize pot smoking in Florida and the goal of this campaign is to
point out the loopholes and explain why this amendment is bad for Florida.
