Mark your calendars for a day of
festivities, food, and fun! The an-
nual Village of Kohler Doll Buggy
Parade will be held on Thursday,
July 31 at 4:30 p.m.
Children of all ages are invited to
meet at the corner of School St. and
Church St. to walk in the one-block
parade ending at the Kohler Bowl.
Participants traditionally decorate
bikes, scooters, wagons, strollers,
and anything else that can be rid-
den or pushed in the parade. Cos-
tumes are also encouraged. All
participants will receive a goody
bag as a thank you for participat-
ing.
This summer the parade is being
held in conjunction with the KPAL
swim meet, which will begin in the
Kohler Pool at 6:00 p.m. All swim
levels are invited to participate,
from the littlest swimmer through
high school. Registration is free
and can be completed at the Kohler
Pool no later than July 28. Friends
and family are invited to sit in the
balcony to cheer on their favorite
swimmers. The swim meet is fully
sponsored by the Kohler Police
Athletic League.
In addition to these festivities, a
number of food trucks, including
Bo Mallies and Frog's Philly, will
be parked outside of the school
from 4:00-7:30 p.m. for grabbing a
quick bite for dinner.
A family movie will be shown in
the bowl at dusk, so bring blankets
to sit on.
In the event of rain the parade
and movie will be cancelled.

Sheboygan couple relieved to be reunited
with dog that was lost in Kohler
George and Angie Longo of She-
boygan loved to bring their gentle,
black labrador-shepherd mix dog
named Zeus to the Kohler Arbore-
tum area. The couple enjoyed the
serenity and nature that the Abore-
tum offers, while allowing Zeus to
get some exercise by playing fetch.
The Longos share Zeus with
their son and his wife, both physi-
cians in Milwaukee, and their two
teenage children. The Milwaukee
family received Zeus as a rescue
dog, but due to their busy lives
they asked the Longos if they
would do a shared parenting
arrangement. So, Zeus spends most
of his time in Sheboygan with the
Longos and goes to Milwaukee for
visits with his extended family.
Zeus was trained to return for
treats after fetching his toys, and
he never ran off until the evening
of Thursday, June 28 when the
Longos think he spotted a deer in
the Arboretum and took off after it.
The anxious couple ended up
spending that entire night search-
ing for Zeus with no luck. In the
days following, there were Zeus
sightings by Kohler police and Vil-
lage residents, but the dog was too
scared to go to strangers, and by
the time the Longos would get to a
sighting location, the dog was long
gone.
The Longos and their family
members also drove around Kohler
looking for the dog and posted
fliers throughout the Village. They
said residents and children were
wonderful in showing their con-
cern and helping with the search
effort. Kids posted fliers at the pool
and hung them on their lemonade
stands, while others rode around
on their bikes in search of the dog.
When Zeus was still missing
two days later, George said they
werent going to leave Kohler
without him. So they took the ad-
vice of a friend who is considered
a dog guru and returned to the
place where Zeus went missing.
They drove their car onto the
gravel path across from the Inn on
Woodlake parking lot and set out
his bed, blanket, and some food
near the Arboretum. They walked
the area to spread their scent, then
waited. George stood in the
wooded area while Angie waited in
the car, where she said it was pitch
black and scary.
George said Zeus finally showed
up at around 12:30 a.m. Again fol-
lowing the advice of their dog ex-
pert friend, George said in a quiet,
calm voice, Come on Zeus, its
time to go home. Get in the car.
Zeus, still skittish from his two
days of evading strangers, went off
into some tall grass, but George
quietly waited instead of running
after him. Eventually, Angie heard
a bump against the car and looked
out the window. There was Zeus
waiting to get into the car, so she
opened the door and he climbed in.
George, still waiting in the wooded
area, heard a shout from Angie:
Guess whos in the car?
The Longos said it was 3:00 a.m.
before they finally got to bed that
night. They were so happy to have
their four-legged family member
back home and safe. They called
their dog expert friend and she
cried, then called back to ask if she
was dreaming.
Other than a scrape on his front
leg and a sore hind leg that caused
him to limp, Zeus was okay. Had
he not been found that night, he
would have been caught in a se-
vere storm the following night
not a good situation for a dog thats
afraid of lightning.
When Irecently visited the
Longos, Zeus no longer showed
skittishness around strangers,
greeting me at the door and leaning
his head on my leg as I scratched
his ears. (Hes camera shy,
though). The Longos said he wont
leave their side since his adven-
ture, and they plan to take him to
an enclosed dog park from now on,
though they will miss their forays
to the Kohler Arboretum.
TheLongos want to thank Vil-
lage residents and local law en-
forcement for keeping an eye out
for Zeus. George said when he
went to Roosevelt Park to remove
a poster, some kids asked if he had
found his dog. When George said
yes, the kids shouted excitedly,
They found Zeus! They found
Zeus!
Angie and George Longo of Sheboygan, and Zeus being camera shy.

Reminder: Keep August 23 open for Kohler Fire
Departments 100th birthday celebration
The Village of Kohler volun-
teer fire department invites every-
one to join them in celebrating
their 100th birthday on Saturday,
August 23.
As part of the celebration, all
Sheboygan County fire depart-
ments are invited to participate in
a parade of fire apparatus through
the Village of Kohler.
The parade will begin at 11:30
a.m., with staging at 10:30 a.m. in
the Kohler Co. parking lot located
north of the Human
Resources/Medical office at the
500 block of Highland Drive.
County departments are welcome
to bring as many vehicles as they
are able to. KFD hopes to have
100% participation from all
County departments.
After the parade, all are wel-
come to enjoy an afternoon of
food, beverages, and live music at
Lost Woods Park at the junction of
Valley Road and Lower Falls
Road. Back by popular demand,
the highly acclaimed Skyhouse
Band will perform during the
gathering.
Area fire departments should
be advised that the railroad trestle
over Valley Road north of the park
has a clearance of only 12 feet.
The parade will not go under the
trestle, but drivers of 12-foot rigs
should take an alternative route to
the celebration at Lost Woods
Park.

Fox trots off with golfers
ball then returns to finish
off the tee at Blackwolf Run
Kohler resident Dr. George Hess
was enjoying a relaxing day of
golf at Blackwolf Run, when a fox
decided to sabotage his game. The
fox came out of the woods,
grabbed Hesss golf ball with his
teeth, then retreated back into the
woods with it. A short time later
the sly fox returned and chewed up
the tee, then defiantly sat down on
the tee box forcing Hess to tee off
on a different one.

: Kohler students carrying the state flag to the final awards cere-
mony at the University of Maryland
Kohler students participate in National History Day
National History Day is a year
long project in which students at
the Junior (grades 6-8) and Senior
level (grades 9-12) work in groups
or individually to create a histori-
cal project that is tied to the annual
theme. This years theme was en-
titled Rights and Responsibilities
in History. Kohler Middle School
students, guided by their teachers
Matt Bayens, Monica Salata-
Labudde and Stacy Roz-
maryanowski, began their intense
research process in November.
Students had to choose a category,
and then worked on individual pa-
pers, documentaries, web-sites,
exhibits and performances to pres-
ent their topic to a panel of judges.
This year fifty-five middle
school students from Kohler in
grades 7 & 8 participated in the
Northeast regional contest held at
UW-Green Bay on April 5th. From
there 16 Kohler students were se-
lected to compete in Madison at
Edgewood College at the state
competition on May 3rd, with a
chance to go to the National com-
petition held in Washington D.C.
Those students were 7th graders:
Emma Egbert, Rachel Proudman,
Cecelia Zielke, Chloe Bohn, Grace
Unger and Kate OLeary; and 8th
graders, Jack Cassady, Casey
Johnson, Sean Farrell, Michael
Janssen, Remy Havens, Ashlyn
Finney, Grace Nugent, Maggie
Kelly, Kara Friske and Halle
Wollin.
During the week of June 15-19
Kohler seventh graders Chloe
Bohn, Emma Egbert, Rachel
Proudman and Cecelia Zielke be-
came the second group of Kohler
students to make the trip to com-
pete in the National contest. The
girls competed in the Junior Divi-
sion. Their project was a group
web-site entitled The Armenian
Holocaust: The Untold Story. Al-
most 3,000 students from every
state, as well as students interna-
tionally (China, Guam, Korea, and
Southeast Asia) competed. The
opening ceremonies gave students
a chance to interact with other kids
from around the world with the
traditional button exchange, one
of the favorite parts of the trip for
the girls. The girls also had the op-
portunity to do some sightseeing
while in the Nations Capitol, tour-
ing the Capitol Building, the Na-
tional Holocaust Museum and
Mount Vernon. The students also
got to take a bicycle tour of the
National Monuments which most
thought was one of the best parts
of their trip.
The closing ceremonies are con-
ducted much like what you would
see at the Olympics, where each
group parades into the arena show-
ing off their colors, flags and team
spirit. Sixty one students from
team Wisconsin participated being
led by the flag bearers from
Kohler. While the girls were not
medal winners they had the expe-
rience of a lifetime. Thanks go out
to the students parents and Mr.
Matt Bayens their teacher who all
helped chaperone and make this a
wonderful time.

Local media get an inside look
at Dolbys unique theater
sound system
Marcus Theatre in Sheboygan
invited local media to tour their
newly renovated cinema, listen to
an expert from Dolby share an in-
side look at their unique Atmos
sound system, and enjoy a compli-
mentary pizza lunch from the new
Zaffiros Express.
The Dolby Atmos system fea-
tured in the SuperScreen DLX au-
ditorium at Marcus Theatre goes
far beyond surround sound to cre-
ate a new level of realism for
moviegoers. In a movie with
Dolby Atmos, cinema sound
moves around the theatre to match
what you see on the screen. Over-
head speakers heighten the realism
so that movie-goers hear the
sounds exactly where they would
be in real life.
Local media members had a
chance to experience the Dolby
Atmos sound system during some
trailers that were played for them,
including one for Dawn of the
Apes.Expect to be a little startled
the first time you hear this system
in action, because it really does
convey the sensation of being right
in the middle of all the action!
The pizza and salad were very
good and movie-goers are allowed
to take the food, as well as beer
and wine into any of the auditori-
ums.
Sheboygan Marcus Theatre manager Tim Burns talks to media members.

Logan Willis, Freshman, at Loy-
ola University was recently recog-
nized by the Womens Golf
Coaches Association as an All-
America Scholar Athlete. The All
America Scholar Athlete award
recognizes the academic top 10%
of all womens collegiate golfers
competing in DI, DII and DIII
NCAA Athletics.
Willis competes in NCAA DI
for Loyola University in the Mis-
souri Valley Conference (MVC).
During her freshman year she
maintained a cumulative GPA of
3.94 also earning her MVC Ath-
letic Honor Roll status as well. In
addition to her success in the class-
room, Willis was also named Mis-
souri Valley Conference Golfer of
the Week once and Loyola Female
Athlete of the Month for the month
of October. Both awards were in
recognition of her record breaking
performance at the Braun Intercol-
legiate Championship in Evans-
ville, Indiana. During the Braun
Intercollegiate Willis set two indi-
vidual school records for lowest
round in school history (69) and
lowest 36-hole tournament score
(144). This earned her first college
tournament victory and helped
lead Loyola to the team title in the
14-team field. Willis also ended
the season by breaking the
schools freshman season scoring
average record.

You cant hit what you cant
see. Walter Johnson
It was a showdown on the
mound as Noah Fink pitched a
one-hitter and the Rockets
Spencer Bares allowed for two.
That was all the Crusaders would
need for a CLC win on the road
June 18. Hitting big for Lutheran/
Kohler was Jacob Muth going
1-for -2 with a double and an RBI,
and Eric Bauer with a single and
RBI.
Oostburg 8, Lutheran/Kohler 4
What is life, after all, but a
challenge? And what better chal-
lenge can there be than the one be-
tween the pitcher and the hitter.
Warren Spahn
The June 25 game presented a
challenge to both pitchers as
Calvin Stefanczyk and Jake Hurl-
butt battled into extra innings to
see who could outlast the other and
hold off the opponent at the plate
for the win.
The Crusaders took an early
two-run lead in the second inning,
only to be tied up by the Dutchmen
just one inning later.
The game remained 2-2 until
the top of the tenth, when Oostburg
broke through the defense of the
Crusaders, scoring six runs. With
their last chance at bat, Lutheran/
Kohler could not get the offense
going and only gained back two
runs in the final frame of the game
for the loss.
Calvin Stefanczyk pitched nine
innings for Lutheran/Kohler giving
up eight hits and throwing seven
strikeouts.
Noah Fink and Charlie Tobin
led the offense for the Crusaders
with two hits each.
Baseball TRIVIA: How many
balls did it take to walk a batter be-
fore 1880? A: 3 B: 5 C: 7 D: 9
If you selected (D) as your an-
swer, you are correct! Before 1880,
it took nine balls to walk a batter!

Never say never in this game
because crazy stuff can happen.
Mark Buehrle
Crazy is an understatement for
what took place on June 27 be-
tween the Lutheran/Kohler Cru-
saders and the Random Lake
Rams. With a 10-2 lead heading
into the bottom of the fifth inning,
the Crusaders were looking to call
it a night and head to Gregs for the
traditional post-game burger bas-
ket. The Rams had other plans in
store and dropped in six runs to
close the gap and force the full
seven innings of play.
Charlie Tobin started on the
mound for Lutheran/Kohler, pitch-
ing five innings and giving up
seven runs and yielding a pair of
hits with three strikeouts. Paul Vi-
cente pitched the last two frames,
giving up one earned run on five
hits and five strikeouts for the
save.
The Crusaders added runs in the
sixth and seventh to extend their
lead. Paul Vicente had a two-run
double and Phil Case hit a one-run
double, to lead Lutheran/
Kohler's offense. Jacob Wickert
led the team with two hits.

If my uniform doesn't get dirty,
I haven't done anything in the
baseball game. Rickey Hender-
son
The Crusaders got down and
dirty with the Elkhart Lake Re-
sorters to win the two game series
at home on July 2. In game 1, the
Resorters jumped out to an early
lead scoring three runs in the first
inning. Those were the last runs
they were going to see, as Cru-
saders pitcher Paul Vicente threw
for the complete game win, allow-
ing for six hits and three strikeouts.
Calvin Stefanczyk was 1 for 2 with
a double and two RBIs for the
Crusaders.
Jacob Berg picked up the win in
Game two allowing for one run on
one hit, two walks and three strike-
outs in five innings of play. Noah
Fink and Jacob Wickert each had
hits with Charlie Tobin going 2-
for-3 with an RBI.
Howards Grove 7,

This is a very simple game.
You throw the ball, you catch the
ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes
you win, sometimes you lose,
sometimes it rains. Bull
Durham
It was supposed to be a double
header to determine who was
going to be at the top of the CLC
standings, but Mother Nature had
other plans in store as the first
game was called short due to
weather conditions.
Scoring two runs in the first in-
ning, the game was off to a great
start for the Crusaders. But it
didnt take long for the Tigers to
get its offense going. In the fourth
inning they were able to pull in
four runs- jumping out to a com-
fortable 4-2 lead.
In the bottom of the seventh the
Crusaders had a final chance to
pull off the win as Charlie Tobin
reached first base on an error, a
walk and wild pitch put runners at
second and third with no outs. A
fielders choice by Stefanczyk
from second to third made the
game 4-3 with the tying run on
third. With a walk to follow, a sac-
rifice fly brought home the tying
run. Two more walks made the
bases loaded with two outs. A
ground out by Paul put the game
into extra innings.
As Noah Fink headed to the
mound to deliver the first pitches
of the extra inning, a light drizzle
of rain began to fall. Shortly after
lightening was spotted and the
game came to a halt.
You obviously would like to try
and finish the game either way, but
well just have to come back and
its a new day and both teams are
in the same situation, Coach Tim
Muth said.
Finks pitching thus far consists
of six walks, a hit, followed by 8
strikeouts. On offense, Charlie
Tobin, Stefanczyk and Fink each
had hits.
To be continueduntil the sun
comes out.
On Thursday, July 3, it was
Calvin Stefanczyk who took the
mound for the Crusaders in the
extra inning battle. With the score
tied at 4-4, the Tigers scored three
runs in the top of the eighth.
Lutheran came back scoring one
run but left the bases loaded in the
7-5 loss.

Son, what kind of pitch would
you like to miss? Dizzy Dean
Noah Fink pitched 11 strikeouts
to throw a shutout in Game one,
and Calvin Stefanczyk threw 14
strikeouts and allowed for just two
hits in Game two to sweep the
CLC double header on July 7.
Fink batted 2-for-3 with a dou-
ble in Game one, while Ste-
fanczyk, Muth, Chorowicz and
Timm each contributed one hit.
In Game two, Stefanczyk hit a
double and scored three runs and
teammate Noah Fink went 2-for-3.
The first round of Regional play
begins July 15 where our
Lutheran/Kohler Crusaders take on
the Ozaukee Warriors at home.
Game time is 5:30 p.m.

The PGA of America Announces 2015 PGA
Championship corporate hospitality expansion
plan due to strong and continuing demand
More than 70 different companies have made a corporate
hospitality commitment; Initial chalet offerings filled more
than a year in advance of the event
KOHLER, Wis. The PGA of
America and Kohler Co.
announced today that official
corporate hospitality sales for the
2015 PGA Championship have
exceeded initial offerings more
than a year in advance of the
Championship, which will make
its third visit to Whistling Straits
in Kohler, Wis., August 10-16,
2015.
The PGA of America is now
opening an expansion plan to
accommodate strong and
continuing demand after the initial
offering of premium, on-course
corporate hospitality chalets sold
out earlier this month. To date,
more than 70 different local,
regional and national companies
have made a corporate hospitality
commitment for the 2015 PGA
Championship.
We are extremely pleased with
the response weve seen
for our official 2015 PGA
Championship
hospitality offerings and
thrilled to welcome back
many past partners, as
well as some great new
corporate faces, said
2015 PGA Championship Director
Jason Mengel. The unique
relationship between the PGA of
America and the Kohler Co.
allows us this flexibility to react
to the demand for participation in
this Major Championship.
As part of its expansion plan,
the PGA of America will create
additional private chalet locations
on-course at Hole 15 to
complement the sold-out chalet
locations at Holes 9, 17 and 18.
The chalets tailored to 50 to 100
guests provide a private
environment with the ability to
customize food, beverage
and interior dcor for a
unique corporate branding
and entertainment
experience.
Chalet hospitality
purchasers for the 2015
PGA Championship also
have the exclusive opportunity to
own first right of refusal for on-
course hospitality locations for the
43rd Ryder Cup Matches, which
will be played at Whistling Straits
in 2020.
The 2015 PGA Championship
marks the first time we are
offering hospitality options on the
course at Whistling Straits, which
has created a lot of excitement,
said 2015 PGA Championship
Corporate Hospitality Sales
Manager Jonathan Risseeuw. The
new 15th hole village is a perfect
complement to our initial
locations, and offers the same
unique proximities to both
Championship golf and Lake
Michigan, truly highlighting the
features of the Straits Course.
Limited inventories remain for
additional corporate hospitality
offerings, including the Gene
Sarazen Suites at Hole 16 and
Champions Club Tables located
along Hole 1.

corporate hospitality
opportunities, offerings and
pricing, please visit
