Happy, late, Independence Day! Some of the missionaries here shot off bottle rockets...that was our small fireworks celebration.
Honduran Independence day is in September.
Lab News: I am so glad to have four, wonderful, reliable
employees that are fully trained and willing to work. Even
with a call schedule on weekends, I am not on call 24/7 and
have enjoyed getting more involved in the Margarita church.
We have had two visitors this summer in the lab, the first
time in my four years here. Hannah is a college student from
Louisiana who came for the month of May. She is applying
to medical school. We have another visitor right now for two
weeks, Erin. She is entering her 2
nd
year of medical school.
It's been neat to see them interact with the employees even
when their Spanish is not great. They have been a blessing.
We are also looking to buy two new lab machines (Arterial
blood gases, and special chemistry machine to do thyroid
testing). If you would like to help with the purchase and
training for these new machines, please contact me.
Church News: We are blessed to be a blessing! I am so
blessed to be a part of the Christians in Action church in Margarita. I see many in the congregation who are trying to be the
hands and feet of Jesus. I am amazed at how God blesses those who give with a servant's heart. Our little church with about
twenty members has a very big heart. We have given so much over the last several weeks to help families in need...financially,
emotionally, and physically.
We were able to bless a family that attended our church by helping with funeral costs. Funerals are expensive here, especially
for people that have difficulty even feeding their families. The Mayor also tries to offset funeral costs for these families.
We were able to bless a family who needed some medical attention that they could not afford. We sent him to the specialty
clinic that he needed. We continually bless a young man from our congregation who is in seminary studying to one day be a
pastor. (continued, p 2)

helps with the civil wedding ex-
penses then helps decorate the
church and provides a small meal.
We have recently begun a church
plant in a nearby community
(Colonia Maradiaga) that has no
church. It's where many of the
families affected by the boating
accident live (see my blog:

Our friend, Elias, opened his home and heart to begin this little house church with us. His
heart was to see others come to know Jesus Christ in a personal way as he had. He had
planned to have devotions with everyone on the ship, every day. Elias died when the ship
went down. Please pray with us that this little house church will grow and bear much fruit.

goes to these fisherman's families.)
Personal news: The Lord is sustaining me. The last couple of months have been nothing
but difficult, but I have seen the Lord's hand. Even when I don't understand the circum-
stances, God is faithful and He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Because of
several recurring sinus infections, due to a nasal polyp and allergies, I have needed the
Lord's strength recently. Thankfully, when I am weak He is strong and His strength shows
through in my weakness. I feel like I am finally getting my normal energy level back.
Upcoming: I will be making a six-week trip to the States the end of July to visit supporters
and raise funds. I haven't done this since I left four years ago, and definitely not since I
became full-time with CornerStone International about two years ago now. I will travel up
the East coast and also to Florida to visit a supporting church. I will be meeting with many
people, including some of you, to share my vision and mission. If you would like me to
speak at your church, talk to your Sunday school class or small group, or just come to visit,
please let me know. I am solidifying plans and would love to see you!
