Solar cells, also called photovoltaic (PV) cells
by scientists, convert sunlight directly into
electricity.

PV gets its name from the process of
converting light (photons) to electricity
(voltage), which is called the PV effect.

Solar panels used to power homes are
typically made from solar cells combined into
modules that hold about 60 cells. A typical
home will use about 10 to 26 solar panels to
power the home.

The panels are mounted at a fixed angle
facing south, or they can be mounted on a
tracking device that follows the sun, allowing
them to capture the most sunlight. Many solar
panels combined together to create one
system is called a solar array.

Advantages of Photovoltaic Solar Power

Photovoltaic solar power is one of the most promising
renewable energy sources in the world.

Generates free energy from the sun

Has no moving parts to break down thus requiring minimal maintenance

Non-polluting energy reduces emissions: Has no direct impact on the
environment

Photovoltaic (PV) cells are modular, you can start with a small system and
expand as your needs increase

Systems have a long life & durability. Cells last 25-30 years

Grid-Tie systems allow you to sell excess electricity back to the utilityThis
is called Net Metering.

Can be installed and operated anywhere including areas of difficult access
and remote locations

Helps get us off dependence on foreign oil

PV cells make no noise and give off no exhaust

Allow the use of electricity in remote areas where it would be expensive or
impossible to run power lines

Have electrical power during blackouts

Rebates and incentives available. 30% Federal tax credit, plus 50% State tax
credit
According to the Appraisal Journal,*

A solar electric system increases your homes
value by $20 for every $1 in annual utility bill
savings.

For annual savings of $1100, Your Home Value
Increases $22,000!

Property Tax Exemption in Louisiana

Section 1706. Exemptions
Notwithstanding the definitions of real estate and personal property in Section 1702, any equipment attached to any
owner occupied residential building or swimming pool as part of a solar energy system is herby declared to be
personal property and shall be exempt from ad valorem taxation, and assessors shall not consider the value of such
equipment in assessing the value of such buildings or swimming pools.

For the purpose of this Section, solar energy systems means any device that uses the heat of the sun as its primary
energy source and is used to heat or cool the interior of a structure or swimming pool or to hear water or the use within
a structure or swimming pool. Solar energy systems include but are not limited to systems utilizing solar collectors,
solar cells, and passive roof ponds.

How Much Energy Do You Want?

1) Each Array has 60 cells that array is capable of generating 265 watts per hour of energy.

2) The SUNx System consists of 26 panels generating 265 watts of energy which equals 6.89 watts, or
approximately 7kw of energy. Fewer panels can be used if less energy is needed or more can be added if
additional energy needs are required.

3) Your power needs are calculated as 7kw per hour times an average of approximately 5 hours of
sunshine a day for 365 days a year. Five hours of sunshine is used in calculations because of the
movement and intensity of the sun when used to calculate power.

4) Using an average of 7kw generated per hour for 5 hours a day, 365 days a year the system would
create about 12,574 kw hours of energy per year.

5) That equals about 1047 kw hours per month.

6) 1047 kw hours times $.12 per kwh = about $125 a month in true energy savings.

Again, our system can be modified but 26 panels is used because it is the optimum number needed to
create an adequate amount of energy and still maximize your tax credits.
WHAT IS YOUR INVESTMENT IN YOUR SOLAR SYSTEM?

Thats right. Solar is an investment.

When you install a solar energy system it is going to produce
electricity that you will no longer have to purchase from the utility.

You are going to use energy.

If you could control, or hedge, the price of your energy for the next
25 to 30 years knowing energy prices are going to go up would
you?
