Segregate the priorities

By :Maemuna Sadaf
There is a famous saying if you have an empty glass and you have to fill it with pebbles , small stones
and sand. First put stones then pebbles and at the end pour sand. If you follow the said sequence you
can manage to adjust everything in one glass. But if you pour sand at the first you can just manage to
put some stones and pebbles to it This saying can also be implanted in all walks of life.
On our National level we are facing the same thing people walking in the corridors of Power are unable
to segregate about what is important for the betterment of the country and what is less important ????
People who are walking in to the corridors of power are willing to segregate between the important or
unimportant tasks. No one still has tried to take any decision regarding large dams or some alternative
energy resources. Education, health, corruption are not treated in the way they should be treated.
Opposition as well as government has given more attention on rallies, strikes etc which usually cease the
whole working of the routine life chores. The rallies affect nothing but the business, and increase the
sufferings of common people who have to travel. In Shutter down strikes the medical stores are also
closed which effect the treatment of the patients. Politician spends hours and hours sitting in Talk
shows quarrelling on unimportant or least important matter. Paper work of thousand million dollars is
made but on ground nothing has been transferred to the common person. Politicians one after another
coming in power have not even provided clean water to the public.
A lot of promises have been made by the political leaders before election but no one is able to fulfill
even a single one. The popular promise of Roti , Kapra and makan by Pakistan Peoples Party was also
not fulfilled in the last five years of their Government. Even in this era economic conditions of the
country has worsen , Debts have been increased , inflation rate , electricity and gas tariff has also been
raised alarmingly. Along with this all people have seen a worst energy crisis in this era. This crisis has
affected the whole country badly. Not only common person has suffered but a lot of industries majorly
textile has been hit more badly. A lot of industries have also been shut down which has also increased
the unemployment. People who were directly or indirectly attached with this industry were also been
affected. In this era of 5 years not a single dam was made. Neither someone has taken serious action
regarding alternative energy resources.
Present Government has also come into power with the promise to eliminate load shedding and energy
crisis. But after governing for a whole year this government has still not started any of the projects
which can help a decrease in this energy crisis. Oil support by Saudi Arabia has stopped this crisis from
worst but this is not a permanent solution. One day or other we have to stand on our own feet. We have
to look forward for the permanent solution. Government is spending her money and energy on
unimportant matters like metro bus , sasti roti, sindh festival and youth festival which are temporary
things and can do nothing a lot for the consistent betterment of the country. It seems that Government
is filling the glass with sand leaving no space for pebbles and stones.
Amongst every politician only Imran Khan has passed on a statement that small dam will be
constructed in KPK at different places. He said KPK will produce the energy on lowest rates not only for
KPK but for the whole country. If this statement is properly implemented and nearly 5 to 10 dams are
constructed in KPK, this decision can control not only energy crisis but also reduce the damage rates
caused by the floods. The construction of dams not only finishes the energy crisis but can also reduce
drinking water crisis which has also started recently in the province of Sindh. Which has caused a lot of
deaths in the area of Tahr and Meeethi . This entire crisis is just because of lack of sightedness. If
small dams and water reservoirs were made in Sindh as well this would had never been faced.
The statement of Mr Imran Khan chairman Pakistan Tahreek e Insaaf is like a ray of hope in darkness
of hopelessness. But only when this statement is implemented and we see the construction has been
started. Yes this is a long term process but one has to take a step forward, at least start some productive
and permanent solutions of the each and every crisis.
