Accroding to an article entitled "Avoiding waste in the production process" by

Ecodesign online Pilot, Minimizing the reject rate is an important goal if only with a view
to cost reduction, and it is also a key factor in quality management and quality
assurance. Rejects could be defined as product without any direct benefit attributable to
the input of resources used up in the manufacture of the product; this means that
resource efficiency is absolutely zero. If consumption of resources is set off against the
other products the overall resource efficiency decreases with the reject rate. A further
problem of rejects, especially if they are rejected at a late stage in the production
process, consists in the fact that the components have to be disassembled before they
can be recycled on the production site.
Table 23:
. According to "The effects of job characteristics and working conditions on job
performance" by Emin Kahya. Shikdar and Sawaqed (2003) investigated ergonomic
factors which lead to low worker productivity in six different industries by applying
questionnaires to 50 production managers. In this study, measures related to
performance were productivity, quality, and absenteeism, and environmental factors
including heat, humidity, noise, light, dust, and pollution. From the statistical analysis,
they concluded that there was a signicant correlation(r= 0.234) between performance
indicators and environmental factors. It indicates that companies with higher
environmental problems had more performance related problems such as low
productivity, high absenteeism. In the ergonomic literature, no research has examined
the relationship between job characteristics, working conditions and employee job
performance.

According to an article entitled "Operations Scheduling" by myomlab, the
scheduler needs to know the job's current status: its location (waiting in line for a
workstation or being processed at a workstation), how much of the operation has been
completed, the actual arrival and departure times at each operating or waiting line, and
the actual processing and setup times. The scheduler or software uses the priority
sequencing rules to determine the processing sequence of jobs in workstation and the
remaining information for estimating job arrival times at the next workstation, as well as
determining whether an alternative workstation should be used when the primary one is
busy. Because this information may change throughout the day, computers are needed
to track the data need to maintain valid priorities.

According to "The effects of job characteristics and working conditions on job
performance" by Emin Kahya Task performance involves patterns of behaviors that are
directly involved in producing goods or service or activities that provide indirect support
for the organizations core technical processes. Such criteria including quantity of output
were widely used task performance criteria to measure employee job performance in
the ergonomic studies.
