Why do you need to go to US?

The project in which I will have to work is getting kicked off and I must have a complete
understanding of clients business and its business problem. I need to go to US so that I can
understand business of the client, the business processes specific to them etc. So that after
returning, I can begin working on tech design to solve their problem.
(Sessions have been organised in sapients Houston office for 5 days which will be led by client side
people and will explain their current business and business problem).
Which is the client you are going to work for?
The client for which I am going to attend business sessions is Chevron Pipeline.
How long have you been working for it?
For chevron pipeline, I am pretty new. I have just entered in this project.
Which client were you working for before Chevron Pipeline?
Before pipeline, I was working with Chevron Atlas Downstream.
So that means you are not new to this project.
Chevron atlas downstream is a completely different business. There are physically separate buildings
for atlas downstream business and Chevron pipeline business and people of downstream do not
have access to pipeline facility and vice versa.
Since you are pretty new to this project, why are you being sent to US? Why not a more
experienced person is being sent?
I am being sent because I have basic understanding of pipeline business. What I do not know is
business processes which are specific to CPL and are not common to all organizations such as SERIP,
PRIME.
Why dont the leadership people attend the sessions since they would understand the business
more than an associate?
Along with me, there would be senior people who would be attending the business sessions as well.
However, since actual development has to be done by associates, it would be good to understand
the problem from an associates point of view.
What is objective of your visit?
The objective of my visit is to attend the business sessions delivered by the client and to get a clear
understanding of clients business and its business problem.
For how long will you be staying in US?
I would reach US on 28
th
i.e Sunday evening and depart on 4
th
May i.e Saturday morning, i.e. a total
of 5 days.
What will you do once you return?
Once I return, I will start the technical design to tackle clients business problem.
How much will your visit cost?
About 80,000 for travel and 15,000 for each day so approximately 1,55,000
