INFORMATION for STUDENTS

All courses are 15-credits (0.125 EFTS) except IT7351 Project which is 45-credits (0.375 EFTS).
A full-year enrolment is 120 credits or 1.0 EFT.
Electives if two or three offered, choose only one.

YEAR THREE you need to obtain a minimum of 90-credits at Level 7, including Project (45-credits) and further 30-credits
from anywhere (Level 5 to Level 7). IT6268 Project Management is a compulsory pre-requisite if wanting to do the Project IT7351.

FOR A TYPICAL STUDENT PROGRAMME: From your major of choice, tick four courses in Trimester One and four in Trimester Two.
Core and Compulsory courses (Compulsory courses are those courses listed under your Major) and must be taken. If you have an option to
choose an elective(s) note these are not guaranteed to be timetabled or clash free. Normally, Level 5 courses are taken in your first year, Level 6
in Year Two, and Level 7 courses with Level 5 and Level 6 are normally taken in your final year.

Please note if you decide to drop a course, you will need to make sure that the Major you have selected is not affected by this, as that particular
course you drop may not be offered as a summer course and will have to be made up at a later date for you to qualify for the particular Major you
wish to obtain.

PRE-REQUISITES: Please check prerequisites you are undertaking (see SoIT website).

For July (mid-year) intake students (Trimester Two) please note that IT6268 Project Management is taken before IT7351 Project.

Deviation from the norm requires Head of School approval. You must meet the requirements to be awarded the BIT degree in your major.

REQUIREMENTS TO BE AWARDED A BIT DEGREE (WITH MAJOR)

Four Majors are available: Software Engineering (SE); Networking (N); Information Security (IS) and Programming (P).

Complete all compulsory courses for the Major (those are the courses listed under the Major you have chosen). Electives are not
considered compulsory.
Overall 360 credits.

REQUIREMENTS TO BE AWARDED A BIT DEGREE IN TWO MAJORS (DOUBLE MAJOR)

Three Double Majors are available: Software Engineering and Programming; Networking and Information Security; and
Information Security and Programming.

Complete all additional 45 credits (making a total of 405 for the complete double major degree).
Complete all compulsory courses (those courses listed under the two Majors you have chosen for a Double Major) Electives are not
considered compulsory.

REQUIREMENTS TO BE AWARDED A BIT degree (Unendorsed)

Complete 360 credits.
Of which 225 are above Level 5.
