The Construction Phase Health and Safety Plan is a working document which will
be continuously reviewed and updated to reflect the current project status by the
Concorde Build + Developments Ltd Project Management team. Any information
received or actions suggested by any of the project team, including designers/CDM
Coordinator/Subcontractors, will be reviewed and implemented into the plan if
appropriate. If any residual risks are highlighted throughout the project they will
also be included within the document. All duty holders will be notified of any
changes to the plan
Works comprise alterations to the existing first floor areas and external works
including installation of new light fittings, notice boards and temporary screens,
alterations to existing internal walls, removal of doors, stud walls and ceiling finishes,
timber frames and window surrounds; installation of new suspended ceilings, sanitary
ware, heating and fire alarm systems, ventilation and emergency lighting; the
provision of loose furniture, new finishes to walls and ceilings, minor alterations to
the existing corridor to staircase and toilets, installation of new external awning,
internal and external decorations and all associated mechanical and electrical works.
A scaffold loading area is to be constructed on the balcony area for the transferring of
materials using pallets and mobile plant or alternatively materials will be transferred
to site using a hoist and scaffold system. (Yet to be confirmed)
Towards the end of the project it is possible permission may be granted for the use of
the internal lift to transfer heavy or large appliances. (Yet to be confirmed)

Ensure all health and safety defects that have been highlighted during site inspections
have been addressed. Ensure all RIDDOR accidents are reported to the HSE.
The day to day management and administration of health, safety and environmental
issues associated with the project. Supervising of all site personnel and subcontractors
and client appointed direct contractors, taking charge during cases of emergency. The
recording and reporting of all accidents and near miss incidents to the Project
Manager, and arrange for accident / near miss investigations to be carried out as
required.
To take charge of the site during the absence of the Site Manager, supervise site
operatives at the work face and monitor subcontractor work activities. During the
absence of the Site Manager take charge in cases of an emergency.

Responsibilities:
To assist with the production of project health & safety documentation, carryout
regular site health, safety and environmental inspections, providing a written health &
safety report for the Project Manager and Site Manager. Carryout site accident
investigations, report findings to the Project Manager for appropriate actions.
……………….. will be the nominated person amongst the workforce acting as Site
First Aider. ………………… has the 3 Day HSE approved First Aid qualification. In
his absence from site an equally qualified and competent member of staff will operate
as site First Aider. Subcontractors and client direct contractors requiring to work out
of normal site hours will be required to provide a first aider with a valid 1 day
emergency first aid certificate for 5 or less operatives and a 3/4 day HSE approved
qualification if 6 or more operatives are present on site.
Prevention of falls:
Any excavations within the work site which is a potential location where a person
may fall will have a barrier erected around the open edge and / or the area will be
suitably cordoned off to prevent access. A permit to work system will be in operation
for the use of ladders and step ladders, where possible podium steps and / or mobile
towers are to be used in preference to the use of step ladders when accessing work
areas at heights.
Ground Conditions:
A Ground Investigation Report will not be required due to the nature of the
construction project. The immediate area surrounding the building is tarmac.
The above will all be referred to within site specific risk assessments and safety
method statements which can be accessed from the Site Manager.
Asbestos:
A full type 3 Asbestos survey is to be commissioned prior to the commencement of
works. When available a copy of the results will be inserted into appendix 3. If any
further asbestos is identified during the refurbishment, work must be stopped
immediately and appropriate action under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006,
shall be taken.
Manual handling:
Where necessary manual handling assessments will be produced, in all cases
mechanical means will be the first option for use when transferring materials around
site. Refer to risk assessments and method statements for further information.
Dust Control:
Regular cleaning will take place by Concorde operatives. Temporary protection over
fixtures, fittings and equipment will be used when necessary.
Lighting:
Where the level of lighting is not adequate for a specific task then external lighting
will be provided.
