Logging scenarios
The LTS Model is a strategic
multi-modal model for
London and its surrounding
area.
It is a four-stage aggregate
transport model
Used to prepare forecasts of:
growth in total travel

How TfL work with scenarios
Building Scenario Networks from a Master Network in Cube
They define and code
individual schemes
They create datasets for
alternative scenarios
Scenario = reference
case + selected schemes
Working with a reference case and schemes in the way
TfL does it has certain advantages
Changes to reference case data:
Only need to make changes to the reference case, not
the schemes
Will apply to all scenarios that have already been set
up
Reduces the risk of errors that lead to different
reference case data for scenarios

reference case data for scenarios
(The scenarios must obviously run again )
Changes to schemes:
A unique dataset for schemes
Schemes may be used in multiple scenarios
Changing/correcting errors in a scheme will apply to
all scenarios where the scheme is used
Schemes
Pre-coded schemes exist in unique folders
Network data are stored in CSV files
Created in Cube GIS or directly in Excel
Defines which links are added to the
base network
Defines links that are deleted from the
base network
Defines links that are updated

PT lines are stored in .LIN files (text based
Cube formats)
Schemes may also be added directly to base
network and PT lines in Cube GIS
Reference Case
For each project there will be a reference case
The reference case includes a base and schemes that
are built by the projects reference year
The reference case data is stored in a specific folder
Network and PT lines in a GDB (file based geodatabase)
Other scenario data in other folders

Pre-coded Scenarios
Scenarios are created as a combination of the reference
case and schemes
The scenario is defined in the scenario window
A scenario key is linked to the list of reference case and
schemes
A database file (MDB) keeps the list of scenarios and their
reference cases and schemes

Checking Scenario data
There are built in reports that check the
networks, PT lines and other data for
consistency
Errors such as duplicate links and
nodes might happen if there is a mis-
match between reference case and
data for the schemes
These errors can then be corrected
before running the model (which runs
