He doesnt turn away; He allows us to turn away. No sin is greater than Gods love. November 13 Its Not Just About Forgiveness There are two sacraments of healing Reconciliation Anointing of the Sick St. Faustina says we come to confession: To be healed. To be educated. It is not an instant fix for sin. November 13 St Joseph Catholic Church 3 St Joseph Catholic Church 4 Your Sin is Different Than Mine We cannot categorize sin as mortal and venial strictly based on the action. Sin does one of two things to us: It wounds our charity (it weakens our relationships) It destroys our charity (it kills our relationships) November 13 St Joseph Catholic Church 5 Confession is Never Really private Theres the priest. Theres Christ Theres the Father Theres the Holy Spirit Theres Communion of Saints November 13 St Joseph Catholic Church 6 Youve Got Mail God is given you a gift (an e-mail) you can choose to open it and use it, or not. The gift was given 2000 years ago on Calvary. We can open it and use it so long as we keep it in our inbox. November 13 St Joseph Catholic Church 7 New Wine Needs New Skins The goal of confession is new life, rebirth, transformation, restoration of friendship, and communion with God, so that you can begin living in a whole new way, the way Christ himself lives. We must not think that it is a sinner, through his own independent journey of conversion, who earns mercy. On the contrary, it is mercy that impels him along the path of conversion. Give them a deep faith, a bright and firm hope and a burning love which will ever increase in the course of their priestly life. In their loneliness, comfort them In their sorrows, strengthen them In their frustrations, point out to them that it is through suffering that the soul is purified, and show them that they are needed by the Church, they are needed by souls, they are needed for the work of redemption. O loving Mother Mary, Mother of Priests, take to your heart your sons who are close to you because of their priestly ordination, and because of the power which they have received to carry on the work of Christ in a world which needs them so much. Be their comfort, be their joy, be their strength, and especially help them to live and to defend the ideals of consecrated celibacy. Amen. November 13
